Subject: Re sad news.

Phyliss, I am sorry to hear about Rufus.. but rejoice in the fact that he had a full and happy life, and there is something rather wonderful in the fact that it was Earth Day, and bells rang just after Rufus went.
As for Kaitlyn, I think little children understand more than we give them credit for. My son when he was young kept pet mice. He called one of them 'Honey' as she was a very pretty honey color.
My first little grandaughter who was only two at the time loved Honey and looked for her everytime she visited. Then Honey died. My grandaughter was looking for her in the mouse cage and asking 'Where's Honey>?' We started off on this elaborate story of how Honey had gone to sleep, and this 2 year old said 'No. Honey died."
We don't know if at two she had any real conception of 'death' but it kind of made us feel silly that we were 'prettying it up' for her.
Anyway, I hope you will find it in your heart to give a home and love to another dogs sometime Phyliss.. never forgetting Rufus of course.
