Subject: Hello..Hello!

Back again.. Sorry I've taken a while to catch up again. Thank you for asking after the cabaret Tina and Phyliss. the whole night went marvellously.. it was absolutely packed.. people that hadn't bought tickets in advance kept coming and coming.. it was standing room only and still they keep coming. We made $1,300 on the night. It was a fundraiser for our theatre group to 'float' our next play Baxertown' My daughter, son in law, and son and daughter in law (campbells soup)! Okay, daughter Pam, her husband David, my son Simon, and his wife Sinead all came on the night and really enjoyed it. Pam gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers. That was lovely, as my part in the cabaret only consisted of about 8 lines! I was mainly in the 'background' selling tickets at the door etc.
Last Sunday Pam,David and I went to a Wattle festival. Did you know the wattle is Australia's national flower?
Its a tree (acacia) is the correct name, and in late winter, early spring it comes out in masses of golden flowers, some like tiny fluffy golden balls(there are many different varieties) The festival was great fun.. a community market, art/craft show, horsedrawn wagons and steem train rides etc.. we did LOTS of walking.. sure got our exercise that day!
Tina, so glad that everything is fine with you so far. My brother has to go back to the cancer clinic at the end of Sept for an assesment.. but he seems to be doing fine so far, tho has put back very little of the weight he lost.
Phyliss. I hope your family in Florida are okay.. it sounds like s scary place to live! But then California has its earthquakes, and here we get damaging wildfires and floods, so no place is totally safe.
Take care all, and enjoy life!
Ellie.

Ellie it is almost as if you had a mirror looking into my living room-last night I was doing one of my favorite indoor passtimes"crossword puzzles" and I had it mostly finished when the word wattle appeared, needless to say I didn't know what a wattle was and I was too tired to look it up in the dictionary and decided to go to bed.I was so shocked to see the answer on your chat to us that I am sure my mouth fell open in shock-lol
Don't downplay your part in the play-even a one liner is important in a play-imagine a stairway missing one step-a one liner is just as important as the need for a complete step and yours was more than a one liner.I was in a play one time that had a scene with a bunch of gossiping women and in it one line was "whose been having clandestine affairs?" and I was proud of my ability to have a snobby way of saying it-lol. Alas I only acted in 2 plays for benefits for the local firemen-held in community halls-not theatre and in some school plays.Oh I envy you-lol Keep on in all plays you can!!

Hi Ellie,

It was great to hear from you. You should feel very proud of your part you performed. Memorizing 8 lines is an accomplishment and also helping with the ticket sales and other things was very important. All the money that was earned will go a long way to help the theatre group. It must have been wonderful having some of your family there to share in such a pleasant event.

Your description of Australia's national flower (wattle) sounds so pretty. I'm glad that you have a good time at the festival which was full of fun activities.

Great news thatyour brother is doing well. Hopefully he will gain more weight as time goes on.

This is the 3rd major hurricane headed to Florida. My son and family have left their area and are staying at a hotel in another area of Florida which is not expected to get any part of this lastest hurricane. Once hurricane Ivan passes through Florida they will return home and assess any damages. The second hurricane, Charley caused some flooding, broken fence and no electricity for a week. I will be waiting to get another update once they return home.

Tina,

What a coincidence that you found your answer to your crossword puzzle the following day! Sometimes when we are so exhausted we cannot think clearly and the next day we find our answers.

I hope your weather is beautiful like ours. We have low humidity and sunny weather.

I will be extra busy this month as I have a lot going on with my friends and family. Several get togethers for dinner and I am getting a crown for one of my teeth.

Our choir will be starting again soon. We do not have any choir during the summer months. We are also having a large annual church festival on 10/2 from 10 A.M. - 9 P.M.

Hope all chat readers are having a good month.
Take care,
Phyllis
