Subject: I am back

Thanks to Donna who sent me the address. My computer died on my and I had to get another so lost everything on it.

It has been quite a year, one that I hope I never have again. Last October Bill went into cardiac arrest and thankfully he was already in hospital they were able to save him. This was because a doctor had put him on beta blockers instead of giving him a pacemaker.

He was recovering from this and waiting to go into rehab when he had a build-up of water round his heart and lungs so again I nearly lot him. I was asked if I wanted his heart restarting if it stopped, I was devestated. He would have been a cabbage if he did survive his heart stoppping and he wouldn't want that.

He was on oxygen for 2 weeks, every time they tried to take it off him he couldn't breath. Eventually he was ok and was transferred to a rehab unit were he was over Christmas and New year.

He was discharged in March, walking a little again but his heart is very weak and a sneeze or cough could take him.

The Tuesday before Christmas my hot water packed up and the plumber couldn't fix it until after Christmas. Luckily there is an electric shower in Bill's bedroom so we could shower.

4 weeks later, my kitchen was flooded, I had a leak under the sink. The plumber still hadn't been to fix my hot water and now this. I had problems getting hold of him but eventually I did and he fixed both.

No sooner was this fixed when my patio was flooded from the drain. It cost me £70 to get it cleared, and that weeked I went off in the caravan on my own. When I arrived back the patio was flooded again only this time it was sewage. The next house in the line had cleared theirs into mine and didn't take it along to the road, so they had to come out and fix it again.

I then had problems with my internet connection, in fact I didn't have an internet connection, Freeserve had messed up my account and deleted the wrong one. I managed to get back on line and my computer decided that it had worked hard enough and wanted to retire so gave up.

Off I went an bought a new tower, so now I had a computer and an internet connection, but still I had problems getting on line. I also had problems with my telephone and thought it was the answer machine so bought another and the problem was still there. Then the penny dropped, I had a faulty line. I phoned BT and it took the nearly a week to fix it, the cable into the house needed replacing.

Bill has missed the last 4 summers so this year we have been away most weekends, only had 3 weekends at home since the beginning of June and one of them was picking Bonnie up. Bonnie is our new dog which I will put in another post.

We had 2 weeks on the south coast and went to the jousting, this was really good fun with members of our group being dragg out to take part. Really good slapstick comedy.

We were home 5 days then off again for another 2 weeks, first at a big rally and we help to put it up the week before, and then onto a water park, so relaxing.

We are off again on 14th October, back 24th then away for Halloween weekend. We will be staying out until 7th November so that the dogs miss the fireworks.

Bill will be going into care full time next year. With all this going off I have been quite ill as well. I have had a chest infection since March which came to a head a few weeks ago when I nearly colapsed. I feed that I can help him better if I didn't have the day to day care of him. He will still be able to come in the caravan if he carries on walking, but I think he will give up. I would prefer him to stay at home but I am now not well enough or fit enough to cope with him.

I think I have told you everything apart from I had a bit of a breakdown the end of February, but fully recovered now.

Hope everyone is ok.

Big hugs.

Hi Margaret,

Welcome back to our chat site. I am so sorry to hear all that you have been through this past year.

I am sure that it was a very difficult time for you taking care of your husband and worrying about his health. By getting your husband full time care you will be able to spend more quality time with him without the burden of providing 24 hours care. You have done so much over the years and as we age our bodies cannot keep up with the demands. I know you would prefer to have him home. I can relate to your feelings as when my Mother had her stroke and went for rehabilitation I would have loved to have her back home with me but I knew that I would not be able to provide the intensive care that she needed. I was working full time at that time. We told her that the doctor made the decision for her to go to the nursing home and that when she was able he would discharge her back home.

You certainly had too many household problems with the plumbing and flooding. It is so hard to get hold of a plumber that shows up on time and can fix the problem the first time. I live in a very old house and I hate it when something goes wrong. I had trouble with one of my furnaces in April. I had to have an emergency service call at Midnight. They did not fix the problem and it took them 2 more service calls and I still don't know if it is fixed right because I haven't had to use it yet. I am not looking forward to our New England winters.

Please keep in touch.
Hugs from Phyllis

So nice to have you back-sounds like you had a mixture of the bitter and the sweet in the past year.I pray all is on the "sweet" side from now on.Bonnie looks like a wonderful dog.It is marvelous that you rescued her.
Our beautiful "fall colours" have started late this year but I am glad of that because we have had the best of weather in September and so far this month it has been great.
once again, all the best to you in the future and so nice to see you back

For the welcome back.

This is a good way to keep in touch with each other and when things get too much and we can't post, we know we will be welcomed back when we can.

How is everyone?
