Subject: Bonnie

Ever since we lost Dixie and Tommy Bill has wanted a dog that looked like them but none came along. There is a message board that has a lot of dogs wanting home on, I found Gracie there, and one day I saw this picture.

This little girl had been run over and both her back legs were broken. Thankfully she was in a pound that worked with a rescue and her legs were put into splints and bandaged, Bonnie was put on cage rest for 8 weeks. I stuck it out for this 8 weeks but nobody was interested in her and she was going to be moved and possibly pts, I couldn't let that happen.

I phoned up on the Friday afternoon to the person I got Gracie from and the following day we took our dogs to meet her. The meetings went well and they were pleased to see Gracie again, so we came home with another dog. Bonnie is Bill's dog, but I have to do all the work.

These pictures were taken the day after we got Bonnie.

This is what her leg looked like when I brought her home, they are completely healed now but I doubt the hair will grow on them.

This little girl was 8 months old when I brought her home, had no manners because she hadn't been taught them, can't when they are in a crate. She is a quick learner and has improved a lot in the 10 weeks we have had her.

Bless you for taking a dog that needed lots of tender loving care. She (Bonnie) has such a sweet face, how could you not fall in love with her. Thank goodness the pound took her in and splinted her broken legs. She is so young that she has youth on side and was able to survive being run over by a car.

Your love for animals and your knowledge about them and sharing with us is appreciated. You always have such good advice on dog chat.

Best wishes for a better year.

Phyllis

God bless the Margarets in this world. If only more folks would adopt dogs needing homes instead of looking for the "perfect" status dog.
