Subject: New recipe

Good afternoon as it is noon time here in New Hampshire.

I went out for dinner yesterday afternoon with a couple of my friends and the waitress asked us if we would like sweet potato french fries instead of regular fries. None of us had ever had sweet potato fries. We all like them and then one of my friends said she had a great recipe for Silky Sweet Potato Puree which was a bit hit for the holidays. This is the recipe if anyone is interested in it:

3 pounds sweet potatoes, pricked with fork - 1//2 tsp salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste - 1/2 cup each, buttermilk and whole milk - 6 Tbs. butter. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position; heat to 425 degrees. Place potatoes on foil-lined pan; bake 45 to 60 minutes, until tender. Peel when cool enough to handle. Puree with salt and pepper in food processor or mixer. Gradually add milks then butter. Process until silken. (can make 2 days ahead; store in an airtight container.) Reheat and serve. Serves 8

Our weather is still cold but the sun is out so it doesn't seem to bad compared to last week.

Also I caught part of the big football game. Our North East team the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl in 2 weeks. I am becoming a football fan as I continue to learn more about the game. Most of my family are into watching football so I have decided to join them now that I am retired and have more leisure time.

January is a great month to be celebrating both Kyle's and Tina's upcoming Wedding Anniversaries. Congratulations to both of you on this special occasion!

Tina, I did not know that you have twins. I have twins also. My daughter and son are 33 years old. They are very close even though they live far apart. They keep in touch once or twice a week.

I am going to bundle up and take my dog, Rufus out for a short walk.

Hope everyone has a good week.

I do my sweet potatoes very much like the above sometimes but have never tried them as french fries..I must try that..
Yes Phyllis-my twins are very close and live only 12 miles apart..but then all my 7 children are so close"best pals"with each other..helped each other build their homes or anything needed and they all live within an 18 mile radius of home..we are central to them all by living in a hub between 3 towns...some of the grandchildren have moved to the city..harder and harder to get rural jobs now.The older grandchildren e-mail me often and it is amazing how history repeats itself..so many things they are doing in the city are repeats of what Ralston and I did there years ago.One of their favorite restaurants is one that we went to 51 years ago..another favorite is built on the spot where Ralston and I met.

Hi, hope the weather is not too cold for your girls at the moment. I just can't believe with the few of us here, that you each have sets of twins. Quite amazing really.

We have a set of twins in my husbands family as well. His sister had a boy and girl (I can't remember the term, but they are not identical) and come from her partners side of the family. They are 21 years old now and lead very separate lives.

Phyllis, I love sweet potatoes (cooked anway) and have jotted down your recipe. The Sweet Potato chips (french fries) sound very nice.

Tina, it's great your family live nearby and that your grandchildren keep in touch via email. Then again, probably not many Grandparents have computers for that to happen.

Cheers
