J got his name as a compromise between dh and I because I liked James and dh liked Jaime; I liked Nathaniel and dh liked Nathan, so he became Jaime Nathaniel. Jaime was chosen simply because we liked the name (and has two added bonuses: being the name of the doctor who eventually diagnosed my brother's epilepsy correctly, meaning that my brother now leads a pretty normal life instead of having up to three grande mal seizures per day; and it's unlikely to be shortened to Jim which is a name I really don't like). Nathaniel means 'precious gift of God' and was chosen for it's meaning.
X, both dh and I fell in love with the name the moment we saw it in the name book. Her name is Xanthea Layne. Xanthea means 'golden haired' which we didn't know she was going to be blonde when we chose it. Layne (yet again the second name was chosen for it's meaning) means 'the narrow path', which is very relevant to dh's and my faith.
Apparently my name was chosen because Mum was going through a very patriotic moment and Kylie was the only Australian girl's name she could find.
So now you all know my kids names (hope you feel privileged, not many on the net get to hear them).
Kylie

Ellie, love how your children got their names. I had a good friend as a teenager called Pam. It's amazing how we have to comprise isn't it, with two choosing the names?
Kylie, yes I realise you are quite careful of telling your childrens names, but they are beautiful names and unusual. Thanks for sharing their meanings as well. So glad to hear your brother's Epilepsy is under control as well.
I told you we chose Leigh as a name but his middle name is Allen. My Dad's first name was Allen (a family surname on his maternal side) and he was thrilled with us using the name Allen for Leigh's middle name. Me, I liked Ryan and Wade and Rob liked James and Mark. I like the name James as well, but could only think that it would be shortened to Jim as well, which I never liked.
Okay, my name. As common as.... (lol). My sister's name is Sherida. Mum named her after a character in a book that she loved. My sister is 4 and a half years older than me, so when I was born, Sherida was told she could name me. Her best friend at kindergarten was Susan, so that's how my name was chosen. I've never liked it by the way (lol) and my middle name is Merilyn (another character from a book) that my Mum read. Lucky she didn't read Lord of the Rings isn't it (lol)? Could have been a really different name (lol).

Did anyone else notice Diver Dan from Sea Change playing Faramir?
I don't know Ellie about the idea of Susan's Mum giving she and her sister boy's names. *grin*

LMOL - you two girls crack me up. I thought perhaps Mum could have named me Gollum? - is that the little creature's name? LOL
David Wenman or Wenham? He was great as Diver Dan.
I actually haven't seen any of the LOTR trilogy yet, but I want to buy the set when all released.
