Subject: gift for Grandma's first grandbaby

Anyone got any cute ideas of what I can give a friend of mine who just found out that she is going to be "grandma" for the first time. She and hubby have only the one son and he and his wife have been married 14 years and have been trying for 12 to get pregnant. They have gone through a lot of procedures and expense. They are in their early 40's.
My friend always called her son & dil's puppy, her "grandpuppy".
Would appreciate any ideas.

Years ago the fun item to make was stuffing a mitten with batting and putting it on a stick with a tag saying " hugsssss ginnyGrandma's paddle"

Just a few thoughts here Hallmark has cute countdown to grandma things, or perhaps you can purchase some children's books for her to read to the baby. My favorite Goodnight moon. A tee shirt or mug with the saying grandma 2 be the be being a bee how about a picture frame for baby's 1st picture (the ultrasound) how thoughtful of you do that for your friend

I always liked to give a nice quality small photo album that they can carry in their purse and either cross stitch or do some kind of graphic or just their name on the front of it - make it personal.I would usually give this gift at the baby shower.
