Whoever labeled your daughter as "cured" is probably dyslexic themselves and don't know it! Dyslexia doesn't go away. She should probably speak to her professors and let them know she has this issue with test taking because of her dyslexia. If you can get a letter from her tutor, saying she was tutored since the age of 7 for this issue, and present that to her professors, it might be all they need.

Find out if it is possible for her to take her exams verbally. A friend of mine at a college in Vermont was offered this option and she graduated with good grades! If her current college doesn't offer that, find one that will. Best of luck!

Hi, your daughter will be fine! I know there is spectrums of the disorder, meaning some people experience harsher symptoms then others. She will overcome the discrepancies. It will be work, but this is speaking from true experience. I currently have a 3.5 GPA at Cal state long beach. I have dyslexia and am studying to be a special education teacher and learned that the only really VISABLE sign of dyslexia as an adult is poor spelling, but there are many underlying discrepancies. I have compensated for it.
My advice
Use Microsoft word (spell check is amazing) you will get better with time. (something I never did that i wish i did was focus on what i misspelled and tried to write it over and over on Microsoft word)
ask the professor for the lecture slides (if applicable) in advance...this way you can focus your reading
read the lecture try to make personal or strange connections of the facts BEFORE you do the reading
Read a page and summarize what you have read (by word processor) (not hand writing if it frustrates you) think about the lecture coming up. What is important? write your notes on Microsoft word
(back up your files computers can break down... stange advice i know but it has happened to me)
After your classes read over the lecture and your notes really quick to review. refelect on the informaiton in your head. make personal connections (this is good advice for anyone)
Tell your professors your situation!
FACT the more you read the faster you get
FACT everyone struggles with writing you’re not alone
FACT no one sees your first second or third draft of an essay but you. Take a deep breath and just start writing. Write your first drafts of an essay freely without worry about spelling or conventions. then fix
FACT: READ.. really ppl with dyslexia are clever, we can pass tests by reading NOTHING... we trained ourselves to not have to read, yea that will work for a while, but the reading is interesting and the more you read the more likely you will move to MS or PHD.

DO YOUR ESSAYS EAIRLY
every campus has a writers workshop

try to organize yourself it will take you so much less time if you put papers in the right place :)
Hey Mom she will need a laptop or netbook to make notes during class, she will need the MS word to help her with her essays, students get discounts on the software. she will need help organizeing herself use a planner to be effective. MAKE Lists!!!!!!
