If your immediate boss is aware of the disability, my first reaction would be to go talk to him or her first, and work something out with them in private.

If the disability is not known by your boss a decision will need to be made on disclosure. From personal experience, some companies will ask to see proof of the disability prior to receiving accomodations, other will take what you say at face value. If your company has an employee handbook, I would look to see if they have any guidance on how to request accomodations. I would also list for your boss/HR how this disability limits you in completing the on-line training and what kind of accomodations you are seeking.

In the past I have disclosed my disability pior to hire and others jobs I did not. I have found that most bosses are very understanding and will do what they can to help, however, your concern related to disclosure limiting your career are real. Keep in mind it is against the law for your company to disclose your disability and use that knowledge to limit your career in the company.

If management disclosure is not an option for you, find a buddy at work and ask if they completed the on-line training, and would be willing to help walk you through it.
