Tiffany,

I can't tell you that you are dyslexic, however, I am dyslexic and your paragraph just described me to a tea.

Can you walk away from your writing then come back later
and proof read it, even if it is just a short time later?
I try to read it to myself, and really look at each word to see if it makes sense. If I am nervous,my mistakes go up dramatically.
The tranposing words is really frustrating. I know this sounds a little crazy, but drinking a glass of water before
I sit down to write seems to help curb the mistakes.
I am a teacher, and when I am tired or nervous, I call students by someone's name. I even transpose people.
I think I am continuing a conversation with someone from
an earlier discussion and it won't be the right person.
That really plays with your mind, not to mention embarrassing.
Good luck and like your other job, it will get easier.
Kim

I do walk away and it helps. I take short breaks between entries. Even after I have double checked my work, I miss mistakes. I rarely miss my typos on typing paragraphs and emails or in writing acknowledgment letters for my job. What I do right now involves me trying to read forms people fill out, and I often omit a double letter, or add in an extra, or add a letter that I said when sounding out a word, but it wasn't there. Regular typing isn't bad. Mostly I do small typos, but can catch those. I have always been good with grammar as well. If I wanted to, how would I get tested? And should I or will that make it harder in the future to get jobs? Do I have to let my boss know? I will most likely be fired from my Job now. I have a very abrasive boss. So I will be looking for something new.

Tiffany,
I had a third grade teacher who had just taken a class on dyslexia. She told my parents that she thought I was dyslexic. There was not much information on it back then.
Before I went to college, I was officially tested at the
University of Buffalo. It was confirmed then that I was dyslexic. Not only was I dyslexic, but, I also had a hearing problem. Some letters I just don't hear. It helped me to understand why everyday was such a struggle. In all the jobs I've had over the years, I have never spoken up in an interview and said I was dyslexic. I would be careful about that. Once you are established in your work and feel comfortable with the other employees, then I think it is appropriate to mention you are dyslexic. You are not sure you are dyslexic so I definitely would not bring it up in an interview.

Tiffany, we can probably go a long way to solve your problem. I can offer you a free test to see where you are. If you are in fact dyslexic then the potential solution to your problems are as follows:

1. Approximately 100 hours of work reorganizing your writing issues.

2. 50-100 hours to correct your reading and number reading issues.

After this your reading and writing recognition issues should be fundamentally correct. The full effect takes about 12-18 mouths.

If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me at:
