Hi Kenneth,
I'm assuming that you were tested while you were in school for a learning disability. If this is the case, and you had an IEP for learning disabilities, you should be able to use that diagnosis at your enrollment to a university.

If my assumption is wrong than your best bet is to find a neuropsychologist or contact your hospitals psychology clinic. If you're already enrolled in college then contact your campus testing center who might be able to do the assessment for free. You may also want to contact your county department of Vocational Rehabilitation, DVR, who will assist you in identifying a learning disability and possibly help you pay for your college tuition. You will need to apply for the program in order to speak with a counselor who will assist you.

You are thinking along the right lines here Kenneth. To identify your strengths and weaknesses, cognitive and academic abilities, are very important things you can do for your success at a university. 32 years ago I was identified as a severe dyslexic at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. It was a life altering experience and made me a very successful special education teacher. I have since opened up a nonprofit called the Wisconsin Institute for learning disabilities and dyslexia (WILDD). You may want to visit our website at www.wildd.org we have a distance learning program that you might be interested in. I can also share other information with you about assistive technology that can be of help to you.

All my best,

Erv

I had to get re-tested for grad school and it wasn't that expensive. This was back in 2009 but it wass around $200. I would contact your health insurance provider and see if they will conver any assessments for you. Good luck!
