My friend is 52 and was diagnosed in High School with Dyslexia. He lives in Northern Illinois and I am trying to find where to look for classes or something towards home teaching to help him. Anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate it.

My husband is dyslexic and 56yrs old. He too is dyslexic. I did not realize how much of problem is was going to be in our marriage. He has a very difficult time communicating and I have a difficult time understanding him. We need some help, or at least I need some help in understanding him. We live in New Mexico. Does any one know of any tutors in this area or even books that I can read

Try libraries. Sometimes they have literacy programs. Call the closest teaching hospital. Call the international dyslexia association. There probably is a chapter in Ill.Colleges with graduate students taking a Masters in Educational Psychology might be interested in tutoring him. Good luck. You are a great friend.
I read a book about a teacher who could not read, you might want to get it out of the Library. The teacher was in his late 50s. The think the book is call The Teacher who could not read". Also Ron Davis who started the Davis Method was also in his late 50th when he learned how to read.
