A university department teaching 'educational psychology' is a good, low cost way to go, I am told. Because I need the result in a 'hurry' I have gone to a clinical psychologist who specializes in testing for dyslexia and related "disorders" (or differences). I have paid for a private assessment that has taken four hours so far. I have one more session to go. If you assessment is not clear cut for dyslexia, Semantic Pragmatic Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome and Attention Deficit Disorder are a few more possibilities that these characters assess for. That's where you would need a clinical psychologist to give a diagnosis. A diagnosis would be of help in getting disability support or access to assistive technology, and/or training in functional skills and techniques or in coping if you feel you need it. A university department of clinical psychology would be another avenue to lower cost testing. Do some Google-ing. All the best with your search and your future.
