Has she investigated alternative format assessment? There are many forms of communication. Social Studies should lend itself to alternative representations of alternative views.

I did not realize your reply was to my reply. I have found linking up with a talkative fellow student works for me. The thought processing and analysis for conversations on my subjects seems to work for me.

All the best for your future, Jennifer.

Regards,
John

in Minnesota there is a law that said something like this any adult that wants to improve there writing or reading or math the state will proved training. I had the same problem passing the test. so I went to a GED instructor for help but already has two Bachelor Degrees. He suggested I get tested for dyslexia. and because I was in the training program I was able to get a grant for testing from the LDA (learning disability association) of Minnesota. That in turn lead to help from the states vocational Rehabilitation program. I have tired teaching automotive mechinces three times but have learned that it is not the right fit for my strengths

As a 46 year old I returned to college to brave it out and found a school that had no tests. But I decided to become a therapist and knew that there would be a 2 difficult licensing exams. I was willing to accept that I may just have to be happy receiving an MA even if I never passed the tests and getting an MA was such a major accomplishment. But I knew that I had to at least try to pass the exam, since my goal was to run my own business and have autonomy. I came up with many techniques to study including using clay figures and scenarios (taken from the Davis method) I used every memory trick, mnemonics, songs, and repetition. I also went to hypnotherapy and did EMDR trauma therapy to help with the massive anxiety of testing since I had such a bad track record. I finally passed! So, my advice is that the more that you can recognize your specific strengths and weaknesses, the better you can address the problem.
