I'd like to get a sense of your beliefs in general and you in turn will know mine as they will be stated here. Please let me know if you agree or disagree with the following:

I believe in God. He is one God, but with three persons in the form of God the Father, God the Son, Jesus the Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. Not three God's, but one.

I believe that God is omniscient (He knows all.)

omnipotent,(He is unlimited in His power, with the exception of being in anyway evil or contradictory to His nature described in the Bible.)

and omnipresent (He is everywhere.)

That the Bible is written by God through man and in its original form is inerrant.

That Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus came from Heaven to earth as an example to men. Jesus was fully man and fully God.

Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus died on the cross as a payment for our sins.

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and this is available to anyone who wishes to receive it.

Hopefully, I haven't forgotten anything vital. If I have, bring it to my attention.

How do you reconcile your statement:
I believe that God is omniscient(knows all)...omnipotent,He is unlimited in His power, with the exception of being in anyway evil...

My question, if your god is omniscient and omnipresent then wouldn't it be true that if evil exists he is evil or if as you say with the exception of being in anyway evil...that evil then does not exist? This is a fair question.

Because evil is the absence of God. It does exist, but not in a part of God. His being everywhere doesn't mean there isn't evil.

With God, what we know and see is different than what He knows and sees. He sees the whole picture. We don't. We "know" but it's hard to fathom, that the battle is already won. Jesus' work on the cross is complete, and satan is destroyed, yet we live here and watch it unfold because we are on different time than God.

Not everything is logically explained because not everything is subject to the human standard of knowledge. We, as humans are lacking in understanding. And God is not subject to our little glimpse of understanding.

Could an all knowing,ever present God allow his creatures freedom? Freedom to do that which He does not delight in?

This question is flawed, as it presupposes something beyond the "God" it questions, so therefore, there is no real answer possible.

Freedom to do that which He does not delight in?

This question, too, is flawed, as it assumes that this limited "God" could conceive of something it does not delight in and therefore once again cannot be answered.

Beyond God in what sense? How does moral freedom put one beyond God?

That is just silly. Why couldn't an all knowing God NOT delight in certain behaviors of free creatures? Really bj,these seem like unfounded assertions.

True,but I don't think the word Trinity is even close to defining this relationship.

>>I believe that God is omniscient (He knows all.)

Maybe - He knows all that can be known - but does He know the future choices of free creatures.

>>omnipotent,(He is unlimited in His power, with the
>>exception of being in anyway evil or contradictory to
>>His nature described in the Bible.)

Yes,but does not exercise that power in all situations. And as a matter of fact emptied Himself of said power to live as a man and became a servant. Alsao omnipotent does not mean that God can do what is logically impossible - i.e. making a perfectly round square.

>>and omnipresent (He is everywhere.)

Yes

>>That the Bible is written by God through man and in
>>its original form is inerrant.

There is no evidence that the original autographs were inerrant. Inerrancy is a man made doctrine.

>>That Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.

Yes

>>Jesus came from Heaven to earth as an example to men.
>>Jesus was fully man and fully God.

The bible neber says that Jesus was *fully* man and *fully* during his incarnation. Jesus did not in fact know the hour of His return - so He was not all knowing at that point.

>>Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, conceived by the
>>Holy Spirit.

Yes

>>Jesus died on the cross as a payment for our sins.

Atonement - now that is a debatable subject. What does dying for our sins really mean?

>>We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ

I agree - but I don't think Jamers did - James chpt.2

Please clarify for me... what do you mean? Are you claiming that James did not preach that we are saved by grace *alone* and not by work? I'm confused. Please clarify. Thank you. =)

Btw all.. Hiya! My first time here.. I followed a Prinncesss here... yay for CARM boards! ;) I'm open for much discussion.. but I admit, my 'expertise' is in the area of Latter Day Saints (Mormons..)

Yes Samoria,I believe James clearly contradicted the teaching of Paul. That James taught that we are justified by faith and works as opposed to faith apart from works - Rom.4.

James only supports what Paul says. He is just saying that works are evidence of faith, not the substance of it.

Thanks for coming Samoria, good to have you.

This is untrue. First point - how was the condition of Gen.15:6 met: By faith apart from works Rom.4:3-6? Or by faith and works James 2:21,22,23?

with the

disagree. God created evil, God does evil. The bible is quite clear on this too. (when I say "evil" I do not say "sin" they two different things)

Probably. But maybe not. I don't get to heated like some do with this topic. For certain they are not inerrant any more!

agree..but been pondering if faith is for the elect only. (I do not belive that only elect are saved, but that the elect are just a sub-group of those that are saved)

Jesus Christ is the Savior of ALL mankind. He will finish the work of reconciling all of mankind back to the Father. He will not fail! :

Jesus died on the cross, and rose up from the dead on the third day. He ascended into Heaven where He is now at the right hand of the Father.

And He has promised to return hence His second advent (coming). No, I'm not catholic. LOL We do not know when He will return, but we know that it will happen like a thief coming in the night, and in the twinkling of an eye.

And my personal favorite is the paraphrase, Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Well, I'm not sure, I've pictured it many times, and I imagine Him to be a visible spirit that is hovering in the sky and HUGE. I don't know how to fathom Him returning as a person of our size if every knee is to bow. It sounds like everyone is going to see Him and at once.

Interesting to think...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Maybe there just won't be that many people left on earth at that time. I think he will trancsend time and space and that is how we will all see him. Remember, even those who pierced him will see him coming.
How soon do you think it will be 'till He returns?
LOL, I'm constantly aware of how what we as Christians discuss is being viewed by non believers. They must think we're psycho! It's not nonsense to us, but to them.
