Now, to rant a little, then I'll directly answer you. *grins* And this isn't necessarily aimed at you, Youri, but I think people need to get a clear concept of what NWN was intended to do. While I think large 24/7, interconnected, multi-player worlds are possible (with a good amount of work), NWN is designed for small, party- and story-based adventures. Think of it as a world set up just for one or possibly two relatively small guilds in UO terms, with the DM playing the part of GM, Seer and OSI all rolled into one. With that in mind, having the ability to do some of the important things, like fire-building and fishing, just don't make for good story-telling in my mind and the minds of the NWN's creators. If you want a game where you can wander around and have truly random encounters, where you can go it alone being able to cook your own food, make your own armor, etc., where your are just one of the thousands other players doing whatever they please, then NWN may not be as satisfying as UO. On the other hand, NWN is being part of a smallish and focused team who matter, who actually CAN effect the world around them in meaningful ways, then I think NWN will fit the bill. I think those concepts guide everything I do with NWN; I have no real intention of fighting with the medium in order to force it to do something it probably wasn't intended to do.

I think these kinds of activities would add a lot to the "realism" of the world in which we will be playing in. I'll look into creating some custom scripting that will allow for cooking, wood-gathering and fire-building. I'll talk things over with the other DMs, troll the boards for scripts that may fit the bill and listen to whatever advice I can get on the matter, but just don't get your hopes up. My priority will be to create believable, consistent and fun stories, not help PCs go about completely mundane tasks.

What I know we can do is work out a simple system for creating items in game using some kind of feedback from the players to the DMs. You actually may be able to create the item in the editor, and send a file to the DM who can place it in the game world after the DM assigns a percentage chance or skill check to the creation process.
