I think those who aspire to operate OUR government have let us all down -- to some extent. This isn't to say we've gone to hell, but we need to pay more attention than we should have to.

And there's the rub; we shouldn't have to pay attention; we shouldn't have to watch over our institutions as though they are wayward children. I think the failing is that those who aspire to govern have forgotten (or never knew) what government is supposed to be in this country.

At this point, it isn't who won or didn't -- I think the republicans engineered the election -- and well I might add -- but still, what they did isn't what we're supposed to be about and they lose for that. The fact that they could manipulate the system in their favor makes them con artists, not leaders or adequate for an honest government.

It is ironic; the Enron thing is another situation where people manipulated the system to win, but where the republicans are concerned, the voters they played like carnival rubes are the stockholders.

We're not supposed to have to be involved. We're not supposed to have to attend meetings and rallies and church meetings and what all. We're not supposed to be a divisive culture and country. There's no way SG, or anyone else, should have to confront a preacher -- A PREACHER -- for God's sake, to discuss politics from the pulpit and in church.

There's no way we should have to worry about an agenda of some pretty nutty people being forced upon us by a political accident and miscarriage such is the Bush administration. But, let your views be known to your local democratic party people (or independents) though I still believe you have a better chance influencing the dems than building a consensus in any third party.

The republicans are not feasible. They are owned by the monied elite and wannabes of that caste and gain their momentum from a nut-case right wing. What is odd is that the dems don't have a hard left. Maybe because they were drained away by the fringe parties. What is really odd is that the dems are more conservative than the repubs who are suddenly for (selective) tax and spend, huge government, and limited civil rights!

Make no doubt about it -- everything the republicans do is political and geared to accumulate them more power. They will continue to bad mouth everything they don't own or control and they will continue to play on fear, prejudice, and ignorance. They will pump everything they can into the doom and gloom atmosphere they have fostered in the aftermath of a national tragedy and they will continue to sell the idea that only they can save us from the "evil doers" and ourselves.

Like I said, we're grownups and we don't need leaders. We need somebody to effectively manage the valid business of this country while we manage our lives for better or worse.

See Ya!
