I showed up at the MSU conf. Saturday late afternoon,
basically one hour before the famous "World Mission Report"
night. I stayed in a hotel nearby instead of hanging with
the rest of the pack in those dorms.
Anyway, here's what was different about this year's conference:
1. MSU had this great very-large screen that hovered above
the stage, and there was a video camera operator who handled the projection of the main speaker onto the screen.
VERY handy. This was an MSU thing, not a UBF thing.
2. They used a special room in the Wharton Center where
they had this elegant, posh buffet and banquet table set
up, for the messengers and message trainers, so they don't
have to continuously run back and forth between the dorms
and the Wharton center. This way, they get to lock them-
selves in the WC all day long and not have to see anybody.
This is the first year they've done this.
3. Since Sarah Barry (sorry, but I'm not calling her
Reverend Mother) has taken over for Samuel Lee, the "closing address" is a bit shorter and there is a lot
less throat-clearing and fewer pauses. She also does not
attempt to sing "The Lord's Prayer" by herself. Count this
as good or bad as you see fit. :)
That's all I can think of at the moment. Just thought I'd
give you an observer's update.
