Subject: Maybe it's love but like you said
In reply to: Aiden 's message, "You and me, and a bottle of wine" on Tue, Aug 21 2007, 9:02pm PDT

She let out a soft breath, looking down at the ground for a moment, watching Nani before she spoke again. "I know we were more than friends, Aiden...." She paused a moment, brushing her hand back through her hair, tucking it behind her ears before she shook her head, a humorless laugh escaping her lips. "We were lovers, as you so aptly put it." Her lips parted as she took in a deep, adamant breath, rushing on through the words that nearly broke her heart all over again. "But now we're not, we're not lovers anymore and we just have to move past that if we are going to be able to work together, maybe be friends....we have to just move past it so things won't be awkward." Dark brown eyes lifted to meet his for a long moment before they dropped again. It hurt, to rehash this again in her mind and outloud. It had been so hard for her to realize that she was the one doing all the giving in their relationship, she was the one who put all the effort into it and now...now she just didn't feel like she had anymore to give. That was the real reason she hadn't dated in the past year, because she just felt like she had given all she had to give and it hadn't been enough. The last thing she wanted to do was go through that again with some other man. Clearing her throat, she turned then, starting to walk towards the diner. She didn't want to get into some deep discussion over the past, she didn't even want any apologies really. She just wanted to forget it all had ever happened - as harsh as that sounded. Maybe in a few more months she would look back at everything they had shared, remember the laughs and good times and be able to smile over it but for now it was still fresh and just made her think of things she had lost...the things she had never had to begin with. The past few months had been spent getting over the nostalgia and the heartache and suddenly it was all rushing back to her.
