I want to trace your scars with my fingertips
Want to follow it's fracturing line
I think you should know
How beautiful and brave you already are

She had spent pretty much the last year sitting on the fence - glad to be here, then missing Hawaii, then missing here, then wishing she wasn't in Hawaii. She would be the first one to admit that she had spent the past twelve months being totally indecisive about life and mostly discontent because it seemed like every time she started to get tooted somewhere, her world turned upside down. Summer was over now though, her senior year at high school was in full swing, and she was completely ready just to get settled into a bit of a routine and to get through her final year without too much drama. Desiring a routine and minimal drama however did not also equal a boring uneventful life - she fully intended to make the most of every moment she could spare, while still fulfilling her life and family responsibilities of course. So, that was how she found herself out and about on a random weeknight - her homework was all complete, she had a spare first block in the morning, she had had dinner with her parents, and as far as they knew, she was spending the night at a girlfriend's house so that they could work on a project. So it was a lie, but a little white lie in her opinion - she was planning to go to school the next day on time and all of her studying was done and she wasn't planning to get up to too much trouble, so she thought it was all pretty harmless. There was just no way that she could spend the whole year playing the reformed little angel. It wasn't her. Besides, going out tonight had been Chad's idea and he was a pretty stellar student - so she thought if he could do it, so could she. Though the friends had arrived arm-in-arm, he had taken off to the bar some twenty, thirty minutes ago and had yet to return and so she was reasonably sure she had probably lost him for a while. That was okay by her though - she had no problems fending for herself and the knowledge of that fact was probably the sole reason that Chad abandoned her like this. Anyway, she never went long without company and was currently enjoying the rather inebriated conversation of a clown in a suit who had obviously wandered into the bar after work and so been there for a couple hours already before she ever showed up. He was definitely a businessman, but not very old - not yet into his mid-twenties she was sure - and actually very entertaining, and seemed harmless enough. He was slurring and a little sloppy, but not too touchy-feely and really just quite hilarious. Her day-wear traded in for something more exciting - an emerald mini-dress, black knee-high boots - her make-up glammed up, her hair around her shoulders in loose curls, she definitely did not look like she had spent her day at high school, and so the waitress had no issues delivering a fresh apple martini to the table she was currently sitting at with her current company who was presently in the middle of trying to explain something very important to her, except he had lost his train of thought and so basically she was just laughing at his expense. She was a social girl - happy just to be interacting with people...
