It seemed that she matched him completely oppositely - for every moment that he was his dark and broody self, she was that much brighter and full of life. Sometimes he was distant and tough to get through too, and sometimes he was just completely vacant - like he wasn't there on that earth with her. But the rest of the time, he was everything that she could need, and all she wanted was to give him a bit of a break from whatever it was that had him so tormented. She figured that it was when her sister was sick and she was a mess herself because of it all, and he was there for her every moment of every day for a good couple weeks, that she really realized that she loved him for everything that he was and everything that he wasn't. She was young, and happy, and busy, and if he wasn't ready to give himself completely to her, then that was okay - she would take whatever she could get. Having just finished her shift at the surf and skate shop, she had gotten icecream next door, and was now wandering down the boardwalk in the general direction of her car - she always parked far away, even when it was cold like today, because she loved the stroll. She spotted him on the bench from a distance and knew it was him immediately, but just continue her approach quietly - knowing she could probably walk right past him and he wouldn't notice. She stopped behind him though, and leaned down to press a cool kiss - her lips chilled from the icecream she was still working on - to his neck, nuzzling her way beneath his hair. "This is a bad place to try and hide from me..."
