In reply to: Oriol 's message, "Re: Digital Output in HM-DR10000?????" on 17:37:22 04/04/02 Thu

After looking at the japanese spec of the HM-DR10000 (www.jvc-victor.co.jp/dvhs/dr10000/gaiyou.html)it appears the machine was built to take DV input and MPEG2 input/output via two firewire ports. No DV output, but should take DVB MPEG2 digital broadcast input. My UK model appears to be missing the second Firewire socket and an inline choke. I would like to purchase these components and see what happens. The picture of the two ports on he jap model shows that they are unlabeled ( i.e no 'in', out', 'DV in', MPEG2 in, etc) This suggests that both ports do the same thing. The literature supports this idea as well. Can anyone get any sort of output from the firewire at all? I would think that it would be in MPEG2 format only.

The other missing port is the 'D1 port' for output to a suitable TV. The literature suggests this is a digital output but the block digrams show it coming off the D/A converter, i.e analog signal. My machine is missing this port and also a socket on the digital circuit board as well, where I believe this D1 thingy plugs in. Has anyone heard of a display using this D1 input? I have pictures of all of the above, the photos have to be developed, scanned, etc.

I don't know if upgradeing involves adding the hardware or a software patch as well. There are two additional ports fitted on the back but I have no idea what they are for. Does anyone know if the scart has RGB enabled?

Hope all this helps
