I still think there would be a big difference.

Faith wasn't shocked with the act afterwards DESPITE the fact that it was an innocent.

If Willow kills Warren over the death of Tara, that's a bit different, even without the remorse. Warren would have been guilty of killing her lover, much as Angelus was of killing Jenny Calendar (your Giles analogy), and depending on your moral view, might actually have DESERVED to be killed.

I know that does somewhat flaunt current moral views, but I DO think that a person can cancel out their rights to live depending on their actions -- if the spoilers are correct, IMHO Willow IS justified in killing Warren, and personally, in the same situation, I'd be there helping her -- Warren forfeited his right to live when he tried to kill Buffy and ended up killing Tara. Killing him would be (again, IMHO) akin to putting a rabid dog down -- not good, not bad, but something that had to be done -- in a MORAL sense, not a LEGAL one, which I realize is different.

Now, if Willow decides AFTER that to kill those she considers bad people (outside the Troika, I can understand and sympathize should she kill, or want to kill them), THEN we have a problem. But lack of sorrow over killing Warren doesn't, IMHO, equal being a "Big Bad" anymore than killing him does. It's what she does later, with others, that matters.

I'm scared, people, really scared. For Tara. For Willow. For myself. Done right, this could really ring true of the truly tragic turns life takes.

Done wrong -- and it'll smack of a bad "Dark Phoenix" ripoff, or a massive OOC (Out of Character) venture.

Someone tell me it'll be okay :)

Take it and run.
