Journalists are always told to try to bring a local angle to every national and/or international story. I would suppose if they mention a train wreck that kills 250 in India and they mention that that includes 5 Americans that would be an attempt at making it more "local". To imply that that means that the 5 Americans are more important in an absolute sense than the 245 other victims is to read more into it than is really there, in my opinion.

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Stu - I have always found this song to be overly sentimentalized, warmed-over Communism. Nice feelings that have no basis in reality.

Ironically, the implication that countries and nations cause death and dying flies right in the face of the tragic way John Lennon died. People are too imperfect to live up to those ideals, as demonstrated by his killer.

I do, however, like other Lennon/Beatles songs from all of their periods of work.
