I have lived on this planet slightly longer than you and my experiences with police officers has been, at worst, businesslike and at best, pleasant.

Have I been pulled over? Yes - 4 times. Been ticketed twice. Those were the businesslike ocassions. I knew I was in the wrong - I was clearly speeding - and I did not argue the point, despite the fact that on the second ocassion I was literally just one of a pack of a dozen on I-65 in Indy that was speeding. My point of view is that I was still breaking the law and still clearly in the legal wrong - even if I was one of many who was breaking the law.

You say you know this officer - but you do not name him. Are you merely being polite and not naming an individual with whom you feel there is a problem or do you merely recognize him on sight and assume he does the same with you?

Once again, I have a similar problem at school. There are approximately 550 individuals in our building, counting all students, teachers, aides, counselors, custodians, cooks, etc. It is quite common that the kids know who I am and know my name and I literally feel as if I have never laid eyes on them before in my life. Just this week we had an awards ceremony and I discovered that I have shared this relatively small building with a boy that won a number of academic awards and I've never ever seen him or even heard of him (usually those types of students make themselves known to all of the staff, either by conversation amongst the staff or you see them at clubs, etc.) To make matters worse - he has an identical twin! The boy's face was literally in two places at once all around the building all day long and I've never seen either of them. I bet if you had stopped either of them and asked them to point me out of the crowd they could.

Why?

Because I stick out in a group of teenagers just like a cop sticks out in a group of civilians. They know me and I don't know them.

Drifting off into excessive-generality-land and speaking of uniforms describing what you are lacking - what do you think of people who have long hair? What does that uniform say?

I know that you have mentioned your hair length three times to my memory on this forum (I don't remember your hair being terribly long, but perhaps you have let it grow out a bit):

1) this time, with the cop.
2) when complaining about the poor service at the Waldenbooks
3) when relating your experiences about being harassed by passing motorists while riding your bike.
