Subject: As the only PRACTICING Lutheran on this forum (that I know of)...

Abba's Son -

If you have any questions about Lutherans, toss them my way. MVD's characterization of Lutherans is somewhat correct: "that is why they attract only the most middle of the road people. Most Lutherans are pretty conservative and middle class. In a nutshell, they don't want to rock the boat and they don't want you to rock their spiritual boat either, for matters of the spirit are rather discomforting to them!" - MVD. Although I would have thought his thoughts entirely correct if I had stopped my practice of my faith in my teens and early twenties, I now see things more as they are and less with the dismissive pettiness that I had towards my own home church as a young man.

As in every group of people, we have people who want to change nothing, ever. We have people who want to change everything. And, we have those people who don't really know why they are there at all.

MVD -

Last night we had 2 very nice young men from the Mormon church come and evangelize us as we were unpacking groceries from our van. Rather than engage them in argument, we were very polite, discussed the weather, talked about where they were from (Idaho & Utah) and within 10 minutes they were on their way and we were left with a card that soon found its way into our garbage can. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.

Due to the esteem in which I hold the host of this forum, I will not engage further along this topic, although some of your comments are as tempting as the forbidden fruit must have been to Eve (whether allegory or fact)...I will not touch them. Have a nice day :)
