OK, it's your long lost board owner coming to say.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOODY!!!!

I want to know how it is possible that he is turning 50?!? I think I am going to have myself a Roller marathon today and watch some of my videos. :-)

Sorry that I have been AWOL for so very long, I am now working 2 jobs and that has about eaten away every bit of free time that I have. Add to that trying to clean out my grandparent's old house to tear down.... Anyway, I do think of all the people that have visited the board and kept it going in my absence often, and wish that I could find the time to come back. Maybe one day.

BACK OUR PAL BEN SAY CRAIG AND BRIAN

THE MacDonald Brothers want their Scots fans to back Ben in tonight's semi-final.

Craig and Ben, both 20, were dumped from the X Factor last week.

They are rumoured to be in line for a 1million record deal - but, meanwhile, they're drumming up support for their buddy Ben.

Craig said: "He's had a bit of a hard time the last few weeks and he's been in the bottom two.

"We want Ben to make it to the final and would ask all our Scottish fans to support him.

"He's a great guy and one of our best mates and he has the most incredible voice.

"We know how hard it is to struggle in the competition and be criticised, so we are doing all we can to back him.

"I think it's hard on Ben being a favourite because there's a lot of pressure to keep impressing.

"And he's found it hard when the public didn't vote for him and when his comments from the judges weren't as good as they could be.

"We need to all back Ben and get him back on track to win the show. It would mean the world to him."

Ayrshire boys Craig and Brian are in talks about their future career with mentor Louis Walsh.

But they're tied to nasty Simon Cowell's management company until the end of the X Factor tour.

Craig said: "It's ironic that it's Simon, again, who's stopping us doing what we want. We're not allowed to sign with anyone else - nobody in X Factor is.

"But we're very hopeful we can work something out with Louis."

The boys have also been offered a deal by former Bay City Roller Stuart Wood.

Craig said: "We're really excited about what next year could bring."

KERCHING-A-LING

Ex-Roller Woody says: I can make MacDonald Brothers a mint with Shang-A-Lang hit
Exclusive by Karen Bale

X FACTOR stars The MacDonald Brothers have been offered a record deal by former Bay City Roller Stuart Wood.

Woody, who topped the charts with the Rollers in the 1970s, loved the duo's version of his band's hit Shang- A-Lang on Saturday.

And although it wasn't enough to keep them on the show, he believes it could have No1 potential.

He wants to record it as a double A-side with the Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), which Ayrshire brothers Craig and Brian performed earlier in the series.

Wood's business partner Gordon Campbell said last night: "Stuart absolutely loved the MacDonald Brothers' version of Shang-A-Lang and he wants to sign them up.

"He knows they might be offered a deal but, if not, he's willing to produce their first single and record.

"He wants them to release a double A-side single on Boxing Day. They have a huge Scottish support and Stuart is confident they can get to No1."

The MacDonald Brothers were booted out of The X Factor in Saturday's quarter-finals but they are said to be in talks with Irish pop mogul Louis Walsh, their mentor on the show, over a 1million record deal.

The boys were due to arrive back in Glasgow last night.

Campbell said: "Obviously, if the boys are offered a lucrative record deal, Stuart would advise them to go for that.

"But, if not, he would sign them to our label, The Music Kitchen. He has spoken to the boys and is impressed with their professional attitude."

Former Roller Wood left a message on Saturday for Craig and Brian, both 20, from Ayr, wishing them good luck.

As soon as the duo heard the former pop idol had been in touch, they phoned him straight back.

Campbell said: "Stuart has been watching The X Factor with interest and when he heard the MacDonald Brothers were going to sing a version of Shang-A-Lang he sent an email wishing them the best of luck. About 20 minutes later, they called him to say thank you and he was very impressed.

"Stuart told the boys to 'Gie it laldy' in true Scottish style. He thinks they did exceptionally well."

The brothers had the X Factor audience on their feet with their version of the famous song.

They graciously accepted defeat after being voted off the show and razor-tongued judge Simon Cowell, who has panned the boys throughout the series, said: "I have to hand it to you. You behaved like men, no whining. Good luck to you."

Campbell added: "They have a great attitude, nothing has got them down.

"And they have the talent to go far."

Craig, 20, said last night: "We've not been offered any deal in concrete but we're going to talk to Louis on Wednesday.

"We want to thank all our Scottish fans and Daily Record readers for getting us where we are now and we hope to see a lot of them in the future."

Wood and his bandmates sparked Rollermania with a string of hits including Shang-A-Lang, Bye Bye Baby and Give A Little Love.

Since then, Wood has enjoyed success working as a producer for The Music Kitchen.

He has produced a number of Celtic albums which have topped the Scottish charts.

He is due to release a DVD about his life.

I've buckled under pressure and agreed to do a fest next year. In Edinburgh - probably around 21st April.

UNTIL I get interest, and folks wanting to go I wont book anything, but there is a hotel awaiting our presence, and live music to book.

Seriously, it will be around 85 each for the entire weekend, plus your hotel costs (discounted of course, I was trained well) so, if you're at all interested in joining us - let me know!!!

So I'm sure you've heard about the Fan Fest being planned in
Edinburgh for 2007? (If not, please visit http://www.uk2kreloaded.co.uk/) Well...I can't believe I'm actually doing this (considering the scope of the project), but if Jan is brave enough to plan another Fan Fest, how can I possibly do less than...bring back the BCR Fan Database??? The database was a great way of getting to know other fans. . .and I know there are a ton of "new" folks who
have joined the online BCR World in the past few years.

So...consider this an invitation to join the ALL NEW Bay City Rollers fan database! I will be posting this invitation anywhere and everywhere in BCR land....as well as e-mailing folks who were on the old database. Just warning you now! For those who aren't familiar with the BCR Fan Database, read on! ---

In 1996, I put together the first database of on-line BCR fans, in the "hopes of a possible Roller reunion, and also to give support to the members' various solo projects." As you may know, those hopes came to fruition in 1999 when the BCR did in fact reunite for some special projects, including new music, several TV specials, and a special concert appearance for the Millennium!

Since 1996, the on-line fans have been gathering in various places around the globe, to share some of our favorite memories of BCR fandom, and to make new friends and new memories with fans from all over the world!! We're looking to bring the fans together again in 2007, so I've decided to re-create the database (which has been dormant for a few years) to help folks get re-acquainted, and to learn more about some of the "newer fans" in the online BCR world.

Incidentally, a few years ago I substituted the full database for an abbreviated online version that just included names, e-mail addresses (embedded as a link in the names, so that the address doesn't show on the page), and city/state/country locations. That database is now
hopelessly out of date and will be taken down. However, I may decide to revitalize it at some point, and I have included a question below that will allow you to opt in or out of inclusion in the online version, should that happen.

So if you would like to get in touch with other fans, re-connect with old pen-pals, or get updated information on the band's current activities, I invite you to be a part of our worldwide BCR fan database! The database is FREE to all fans who participate. For the safety of the fans, it is my policy to only give out the database to fans who are included on the database. If you would like to be included on the database and receive a copy, please fill out the info
and return it to me at Cojehali@aol.com. If there's anything on the form that you prefer to keep private, that's fine, just include whatever you feel comfortable sharing with other fans! Once the database is complete, I will be sending you a copy via e-mail (Excel format). If you have any friends who are Roller fans that would like to be included, please pass this info along to them! If you
have any questions, please feel free to ask! I hope to hear from you soon!

-Connie

Hi! I just recently got back into the Bay City Rollers. I have been a fan for 30 years now. And I still have a thing for Woody. I think I will always be a fan of his. I am from the great state of Texas. I have been on e-bay buying everything I can on the boys in plaid. My dream would be to one day travel to Scotland. I think it would be awsome to be where they are. And to actually see them in person.
I hope I am welcome to your site.

OK folks, a few of us have decided it's about time we had another Brit "Gathering of the Clans" because it's been way too long since the last one!!

Glasgow last weekend made quite a few of us realise just how much fun we have when we make the effort and get together with friends old and new. These friendships may have been started because of our shared love of anything BCR/Lesmac, but they go way beyond that now! Some folks reading this message will be fairly new to the on-line BCR/Lesmac scene, but many others go back forever (or that's how it seems!!)

A weekend of fun is proposed for Fri 7 April thru Sun 9 April 2006 in Edinburgh, Scotland. We are currently discussing the arrangements with our preferred hotel and will confirm these as soon as possible, we will also confirm the price but anticipate it being in the region of 60 to include entertainment and evening meal on Saturday April 8, and possibly ice-breaker entertainment on friday April 7. We have lots of ideas and some surprises in mind so watch this space!!

Please note, this will be a general 70's event - although we fully expect any BCR/Lesmac representation to be prominent! There will be no guarantee of a Roller presence because the event is all about our friendships and having fun together. We will promise a great time with quality live music - and lots of it! We also intend supporting a local charity or two just like we did in 2000 when we raised almost 2000 for Radio Lollipop (Edinburgh Childrens Hospital Radio)!

If you joined us in Edinburgh in 2000, this event is for you by way of a reunion (coincidentally it will fall on exactly the same weekend as 2000!) If for some reason you didn't join us in 2000, I'm sure you will have heard all about the wild time we had then and will absolutely not want to miss out again? If you're new to on-line since 2000, take our advice and commit to joining us in 2006 for the party to end all parties!!

OK - this time I'm sending the reminder early! I'm doing some traveling for the holidays, so this will be the last chat "hosted" by me until January - although of course y'all are all welcome to continue to meet if you like!

If anyone tried to IM me to get into chat last week and I missed you, my apologies...I was having issues with my DSL and kept getting booted out of chat! Hopefully I'll be able to keep my seat this week...! ;oP

Date: Sunday, December 18th
Time: 6 PM PST/9 PM EST
Chat client: AOL/AIM
Chat room: Rollin

If you don't have AOL or AIM, go to www.aol.com, click on AIM and download the FREE chat software. Note: You are NOT downloading the AOL software when you do this, just the instant message/chat capability. Once you have chosen a FREE screen name and signed in, go to "actions" (a small drop-down menu) and choose "Buddy Chat". Type in your screen name and the chat room name "Rollin" (no quotes). If that doesn't work, send me an e-mail/IM at Cojehali and I'll send you an "invite". We are still testing out the AIM chat software so be patient...we may need to work out a few bugs!

Hope to see you there! :o)

Just wanted to alert all BCR fans that we are having a Sunday Night BCR Chat Revival tonight (Sunday, December 4th) via AIM (AOL Instant Messenger).

Date: Sunday, December 3
Time: 6 PM PST/9 PM EST
Chat client: AOL/AIM
Chat room: Rollin

If you don't have AOL or AIM, go to www.aol.com, click on AIM and download the FREE chat software. Note: You are NOT downloading the AOL software when you do this, just the instant message/chat capability. Once you have chosen a FREE screen name and signed in, go to "actions" (a small drop-down menu) and choose "Buddy Chat". Type in your screen name and the chat room name "Rollin" (no quotes).
If that doesn't work, send me an e-mail/IM at Cojehali@aol.com and I'll send you an "invite". This is a first-time test of the AIM chat software for us so be patient...we may need to work out a few bugs!

If we can make this work we're hoping to ressurrect the old Sunday night chats...it's been far too long since some of us caught up with each other! Hope to see you there! :o)

-Connie

P.S. On a side note, does anyone know of any BCR fans that live in Colorado? If so, please e-mail me! Thanks!

Oh my gosh!!! I am in heaven!!! I am sooo new to this and finding a WOODY message board is awesome!!!! He was and still is my favorite but I adored all of the guys in the band and love to hear from others who are as "crazy" as I am. It seems like only yesterday when I had my bedroom plastered with their pictures.....oh what great memories!!! Thanks for the site, it's great.

OK. New question. I know some of you have already told us, but let's do it again.

If you can name one, which Roller is your favorite?

Well, gee, I think I will have to think about this qestion for a minute.

WOODY!WOODY!WOODY!WOODY!WOODY! There was just always something about him that got me. It may have been that little innocent look, or that smile, or that sense of humor, or that..... Sorry, I think I could get a little carried away. LOL!

Next?

OK, I just have to share. I just got WOODY's Glen of Tranquility cd, and I LOVE IT!! It is so soothing, and when looking at his pictures, I need something to soothe me. LOL. I can tell it is going to get alot of play in my cd player. I just think that it is a shame that he couldn't put his name on it for fear of people passing it by just because he was a Bay City Roller. I now want all the rest of his celtic cds. Of course along with everything else he ever did. :-)

OH THE OBSESSION!!! LOL.

Deposits for attendance at Remember the Rollers, 1975-2005, were due on 1 July. With all the excitement of the Don't Let the Music Die fest and the Once in a Lifetime tour we thought we'd give everyone some extra time.

Don't wait too long though, places are filling up. We hope some of you can join us.
