If you set aside emotion and consider the current situation unfolding in Ukraine, the evidence shows that Kiev’s army and government is flailing and moving backwards. Without support from the United States and NATO, Ukraine does not have the manpower, munitions, tanks, artillery, air craft, financial resources and industrial capability to stop Russia. Even with more Western support trickling in, Ukraine will still lack the military power to staunch the Russian advance.
I want to stress that even with the support from NATO it makes the difference only on operational level in terms of approach to elimination of this support. To understand what mechanisms Russia employed now on the state level, enough to mention--it is not a secret, albeit as always grotesquely talked up by all kinds of Russian "patriots"--that Russian military-industrial complex needs thousands of qualified workers. The paradox of this situation, which is being addressed as I type this, is in the fact that this problem exposes an immense industrial mobilization capability of Russia.
