This trilogy is dedicated to, in my humble opinion, the finest B/X authors today: Joanne W, Melissa, Evil Willow, Michelle, Nick Hucik, Serenity G, Me Jeffrey Patrick, Brooke, Xand, Laura, Jason Thompson, Rick, Jai L, Lucky 13, Amy, Katie, Mean Cris Gump Brittany, Stephanie, Greydon Creed, Nicollete Marquis Mcfadgen, Mistress Angel, Ashley, Queen Angel J. Hallmark, Lori Bush, Vamppyr64, Stephen Howe...Whether they continue to write B/X or just tried it out once they are, IMHO the best writers of BX today. You can just about rest assured if you see their name as the author the story will be high quality.

Authors Notes: I sincerely hoped that you laughed a few times during this trilogy. I wanted to write something funny and without a lot of angst. From the feedback I have recieved so far it seems that I have done pretty well. Thank you again to everyone who wrote to me about this story.

Authors Notes: 2 This fic will feature two guest stars and a flashback to the New Years Eve scene where B and X got together.

The Summer's House

Willow waited patiently for her two friends to speak.

"We're in love, Willow," Buffy said, now sitting next to Xander on her bed.

"And neither of you bothered to tell me? You're both supposed to be my best friends."

Xander jumped in. "Wills, it's not like that. We didn't purposely try to hurt you. You have to know that."

"Willow, I had just lost Riley not long ago. Then two weeks later he comes back to town and wants to start over. At that time I was just concerned with nursing my mom back to health. Xander was helping me and Dawn every day, which eventually led to Anya becoming angry and accusing him and me of having an affair. You know yourself that me and Xander were just friends. My mind was completely on my mother."

"I know, Buffy," Willow acknowledged.

"Anya would not understand that I was just trying to be a good friend," Xander continued, “She moved out of my apartment and said she needed a break from our relationship. Then New Years Eve happened."

Willow was surprised at the joyous smiles that came across her two best friends faces. "So, tell me. What happened on New Years Eve?"

"Well, Willow. It was like this......"

Xander's apartment

The preparations for Xander's first New Years Eve were finished. All the food was cooked. All the snacks were ready, and the booze was plentiful.

Because of all the help and support Xander had given to her and her sister, Buffy came over to his house early in the morning and helped him get everything ready.

They had finished much earlier than either anticipated and were now relaxing Xander's couch watching tv.

"Thanks again, Buff. You must have shaved off three hours of work time. Now I have three hours of lounge-around-and-do-nothing-time. That's the best time of the day in my opinion."

Buffy turned to her long time friend with a smile. "My pleasure. Oh, and lounge around time ranks pretty high on my Buffy to do list as well." she thought to herself.

"Great minds think alike." Xander returned her smile. They were sitting pretty close to each other on the couch. Over the last three weeks they had become accustomed to being together more often than they had in the past year.

OF course they knew the fact that neither of them had their personal lives in order compounded the situation.

The Wedding Singer was on TNT. It was pretty funny and they both enjoyed
it. They had been up and around the house all day making sure everything was ready for tonight’s party. Right now they were just kicking back.

Every now and then Xander would steal a glance at Buffy, wondering how any woman in real life could be so beautiful. He was so sure that he was finally over her, romantically speaking.

But all the time they had spent together lately begin to break his resolve. The old feelings that he had just in the past year began to accept as the past began to resurface.

He was falling in love with her again.

His daily routine involved comming home from work, showering, heading over to Buffy's house, staying there until it was time to either head to the Magic Box or patrol, then drive her home and repeat the next day.

Time spent together.

That was what brought back Xander's old feelings.

What Xander didn't know....

was that Buffy was starting to have new ones.

"Buff."

"Yeah?"
`
"Riley told me he want comming tonight. Said he didn't want to crowd your space and all. He did tell me he was going to be at one of the fraternity parties on campus. He said you'd know the one." Xander thought she might be saddened that she couldn't spend New Years with him.

"Oh," Buffy muttered without a lot of emotion.

"Oh? That's it?"

"Yep, that's it. Just oh."

Xander nudged her shoulder, which was practically touching his anyway. "I won't feel insulted if you want to take in the fraternity party."

"You don't want me here?" she asked quietly without taking her eyes off the tv screen.

"I always want you here with me." Xander smiled when he saw her jaws suck in to fight
her own. "I'm just saying if you want to be with Riley tonight it's okay. I'll understand."

"I want to be with....here tonight. I want to be with my closest friends." "By the way, how did you convince my mother to come here tonight?"

"Hey, not just your mom. Three of her friends as well."

"You didn't answer my question."

"Her and her girlfriends were sitting around one day when I went over your house. They were the women she met in her physical rehab class for people who had undergone major surgery. I told them I was having a way far out New Years shing dig. I also told them that three other single men I work with, along with two others down the hall from me, all in their late thirties would be there. They jumped at the chance. Plus, one of your mom's friends winked at me. She was checking out the Harris merchandise. Looked like she wanted to make a purchase." Xander said with a smirk on his face.

Buffy turned to Xander with her mouth open, about to say something. Then she decided not to.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"That look was not nothing. It was something. I know a something look when I see one."

"I was trying to picture you with an older women. She'd be your sugar mommy."

"If she pays my rent and car note you can call her whatever you want."

"She can't have you."

Xander didn't reply right away. He was trying to discover if what she said had any hidden meaning. "Why can't she have me?"

"She just can't."

Buffy stared straight ahead, as if he was not even sitting next to him.

"Buffy."

"What?"

Realizing she was not going to elaborate, Xander decided to drop the subject for now. "Any particular reason you don't want to spend the holiday with Riley."

Buffy looked down at her lap and sighed. "I don't know. Maybe I don't want to face what happened between us."

"Buffy, you did run after the guy when he was leaving. That sounded like you still wanted to be with him."

"I did at that time. But with Dawn, Glory, and my mothers health I had a lot on my plate. While he was gone those two weeks I started to focus on what's most important in my life. When you love someone you don't leave them. I'm tired of driving myself crazy over of men who leave me. Maybe I should take a harder look at the ones who stay."

Buffy reached over and took his large hand into her small one. "Like you."

Xander brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. "I'm never going to leave you, Buffy."

"I know," breathed softly, her hand warm and tingly where his lips touched. "When you say it, I believe it."

Buffy had no choice but to admit something to herself. She was becoming attracted to Xander. Something over the last couple of weeks changed and she saw him differently. His hair was longer than she ever seemed to remember him wearing it. It seemed to be begging for her to run her fingers through. He was more confident in himself, had found his inner peace. He had pulled himself up by the bootstraps. Got himself a good job and his own apartment.

He changed his whole life for the better, turned everything around.

And still made room for her.

No excuses.

They held hands until the movie went off. Near the end Xander fell asleep. Buffy lifted his arm over her shoulder and snuggled up next to him, reveling in being so close to him.

She was fast becoming used to it.

In his sleep Xander pulled Buffy closer and she snuggled up to him even more.

She found herself very comfortable in his arms. Her body seemed to fit nicely next to
his.

Buffy then took a good look at him. That was not the first time she admitted he was good looking to herself. But she didn't like to dwell on it for long.

"What are you looking at?" Xander said with his eyes closed.

"How did you know I was looking at you?"

"I could feel it."

"I'm supposed to be the one with heightened senses, remember."

"Where you're concerned, I'm very observant."

Buffy began to play with his fingers, her head resting on his shoulder. Xander couldn't really remember her being this close to him when he fell asleep, but he was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

he thought to himself.

"Xander."

"Yeah?"

"I think you're handsome."

"Buffy, are you high?"

Buffy punched him in his other shoulder. "No I am not high. I just think that you are a very handsome man. That's all."

Xander could feel his heart rate increase.

"Buffy."

"Yeah?"

"I don't think I could live without you in my life."

Every now and then someone says something that simply knocks the wind out of your body. Because that exactly is what Xander has just done to Buffy. She can feel tears stinging her eyes.

Her father made the choice to leave her mother, and subsequently her as well.

Angel left because he felt he would always hurt her in the end. Her opinion on the subject didn't matter.

Riley left because he felt he couldn't reach her. Ultimatums rarely solve relationship problems and his didn't solve theirs.

They all had made it crystal clear that they could live without her.

But not Xander.

"I feel the same way about you, Xander. Literally, I wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for you."

"I do my best."

"You are the best."

What Xander did next was born of courage and sheer need. His absolute need to touch her, feel her next to him. Xander scooped one arm under Buffy's knees and lifted her onto his lap. Then he wrapped his arms around her and held her close. She stiffened for a moment, then relaxed in his embrace, resting her head back and closes her eyes.

Xander closed his eyes and reveled in one of his most privately held fantasies. Holding Buffy Summers in her arms.

He knew that the emergency ward of the hospital would be able to treat his broken ribs when she decided to elbow him. He silently thanked his construction union for the wonderfull medical plan that they had fought for.

What she said next was unbelievable.

"Took you long enough."

Buffy couldn't see the serene smile that formed across his face as he breathed into her hair. The strawberry scented shampoo she uses now played havoc with his senses while the softness of her soft skin warmed to the touch.

Buffy sat with her knees draped over his. Her head fit right under his chin, while his arms held her tight.

The next thirty minutes went by in silence. Xander held Buffy in his arms and everything was right with the world. It was enough that they both accepted this new level of intimacy between them.

Buffy felt so genuinely loved in Xander's arms. She leaned into Xander's embrace even more and decided not to think about it. She had done enough thinking, blaming, and brooding to last a lifetime.

Right now she just wanted to enjoy this private moment with Xander.

"I adore you," he whispered into her ear with sincerity. Buffy felt herself blushing under his tender words. She felt she could believe everything he said and not question any of it.

"You give me courage," she said against his chest. "You do the right thing no matter what. You involve yourself and risk your life in things that aren't your responsibility. If you can keep going and find a reason to fight the good fight then I know I can too." Xander's hand rose up to caress her face. Neither had looked the other in the eyes yet. They were taking baby steps through the door of friendship into romance.

They were both tired of stumbling through, only to be tossed back out again.

"Thank you for saying that. It means alot."

She knew it would.

The next movie that came on tv was A Very Brady Sequel.

Buffy ran her finger's lightly over the forearm that lay across her waist. Xander could not simply believe that Buffy was touching him. Nothing sexual, just touching him.

Because she wanted to.

"Can you believe that Marcia and Greg wanted to do it throughout this whole movie," Xander whispered into her ear. They were alone in the house, yet it seemed more intimate to speak quietly.

"Well, they are only brother and sister by marriage. They are not blood related."

"Yeah, but it still reeks of wrongness."

"Reeks of wrongness? This coming from a guy who owns all twelve Where the Boy's Aren't lesbian porn tapes."

"Hey, those are very educational. I learned how to kiss from those tapes. How do you think I convinced Willow fool around? Smooches. How do you think I melted the ice queen, Cordelia. Smooches. I even got Faith into bed. How did I do it you ask? Smooches. All gleamed from watching women kiss other women."

"You didn't get Faith into bed. Faith fucked you."

"Whatever. Hey, don't be knocking my kissing skills until you've taken them out for a test drive," he leered into her ear, while pressing a lingering kiss there that made her moan softly.

"So why did you have to watch lesbian porn to learn how to kiss?"

"Okay, it's quire simple, really. Women know what they like. If two women kiss each other they are kissing exactly how they want to be kissed. I watched, took notes, and used my new found knowledge of mouth to mouth activity to the best of my ability. I now know exactly how to kiss a women."

"So you don't think a guy could naturally know how to kiss a women exactly the way she wants?"

"Nope. No matter how hard a man tries he will never kiss a women like another women can. But if he watches women kissing women, he will learn how to please a woman. That's Xander logic."

"And you needed twelve lesbian movies to perfect your technique?" Buffy teased.

"They were just used reference material."

"And the best way for a girl to learn how to give a blow job would be for her to rent a gay movie and watch two guys do it because no woman could give head the way a guy can because a guy knows what he likes, right?" she smiled up at him.

Xander pondered this strange turn of events.

"Do we have enough potato chips for tonight’s party," Xander joked, changing the subject.

Buffy laughed out loud, knowing she beat him at his own game. "Xander."

"What?"

"Why did you pull me into your lap." Her voice purred as she spoke, causing him to take a deep breath and readjust her slightly.

"I couldn't resist you anymore." broke.> "Why did you let me?"

"Because I'm falling in love with you."

Her confession didn't throw him for a loop like he thought it would. In all actuality, it didn't even shock him. He was old enough now, mature enough, to know that she was not a some fantasy women who lived in a castle overlooking her kingdom. She was a single twenty year old female who he had been spending a lot of time with recently. They talked alot, had known each other for nearly five full years. They were there for one another and enjoyed each others company.

Somewhere along the way friendship grew into love. It was in this moment that Xander thanked God for Riley and Anya. Both of them needed to go through a normal relationship that actually lasted some length of time so that they could arrive at the place they were in now.

"Does that mean I can have you now?" Buffy was so light in his arms, her head resting on his shoulder, the soft intake and exhale of her breath beating in time with his heart.

"Do you want me? What about Anya?"

"She moved out of my house because she didn't believe me when I told her nothing was going on between you and me. She didn't trust me. She asked for a break in our relationship. Now, things are different."

"How so?"

"Because I have fallen in love with you, again." Xander placed one soft lingering kiss to Buffy's temple. He then began to trail down her face, over her cheeks. Finally he tipped her head and kissed her.

The meeting of their lips was so good. Soft, warm reverent kisses, one on top of the other, shared with mutual consent passed between them. Buffy felt Xander's arms tightening around her waist, the soft bristle of his hair tickling her palms.

This moment felt so right to both of them.

Her tongue slipped past his lips. Thick and slick and warm, dancing across his teeth and gums. His own tongue responds, flicking playfully before driving into the haven of her mouth, tasting, savoring the unique flavor of Buffy.

They are melting into one another.

Electric brush of hands and fevered lips, his fingers tracing phantom fire over her body. Her senses stripped bare.

Naked.

Need.

Raw.

Primal.

There is no time, no place. They are both defenseless, unable to comprehend anything accept each other.

Taste

Scent

Body.

They now share hard bruising kisses, his mouth clashing with hers.

Forceful.

Greedy.

Both knew this would undoubtedly lead to more than kissing. It was impossible that either of them would choose to sip when they could drown, sink beneath the surface of an eternity of pent-up longing. Would they both willingly surrender, surfacing only when they were sated?

A few minutes more of kissing and they finally broke apart, each breathing heavily. Buffy sat up and straddled Xander's lap, now sitting face to face with him. Her face was flushed, her apple red lips swollen with passion.

Xander fell in love with her again, for the third time in his life.

Buffy looked deep into his pretty brown eyes. Here was the man that had never betrayed her. Not once. Here was the man that told her the truth about herself even when she didn't want to hear it. He never tried to change her.

He just wanted her to be happy.

It took five years for her to realize...

that he made her happy.

Better late than never.

"I love you, Xander."

He fell in love with her again.

"I love you, Xander," he replied.

Buffy giggled in his lap. "You're supposed to say I love you, Buffy."

"Those words don't seem to do justice for what I feel for you."

Buffy dropped her head to his chest and he kissed the top of it. "When you say things like that I feel so feminine. Like a real woman and not just Buffy the vampire slayer."

Xander lifted her head, only to discover one lone tear streaking down her face.

She was happy.

He had made her happy.

"I love you, Buffy. I always have."

Wrapping both her slender arms around his neck, she hugged him, loving how good it felt to hold him close to her. She traced his face and lips with her finger tips. She left one finger over his lip, silently telling him she wanted him to be quiet.

"Xander," she spoke as close to his lips as she could get. Her words were so soft even if you were sitting next to them you would not be able to hear them. "I want you to stand up when I do. I want you to extend your hand to me. When I take it I want you to lead me into your bedroom. When we arrive I want you to undress me the way you have always dreamed you would. Then I want you to make love to me. And while you're making love to me I'm going tell you over and over how much I love you. Because I really and truly do."
