Subject: Deadbeat client?

HI guys-I need your help. The situation I'm in is new to me.I've been sitting for over a year, but really part time. Here's my situation:
For Memorial Day weekend, this new client calls me and begs me to take care of her dog. She lives pretty close to me, so I said OK. I went for the interview, she left town, everything was great, blah, blah, blah. She was due back Mon. nite. Long story short-she didn't get back as scheduled nor did she call to let me know what was going on. I made the extra unplanned and un paid for visit. I had a message in the AM saying she got back around 2AM, was very apologetic and totally cool, knowing she'd have additional charges, said she'd send me a check or I could pick one up or whatever. Next time, I'll go pick it up because I still haven't gotten one! I sent her a friendly 'reminder' on June 5th with a self addressed stamped envelope. According to my contract, late payment fees now apply as well. I'm not sure I guess, how to go about trying to collect payment now. If I send another 'reminder', I'm not sure how to word it tactfully. She seemed to be such a neat lady and I thought she'd be a somewhat steady client, but now I'm kinda PO'd that she hasn't paid. Maybe she's just forgotten unintentionally...?
Any help would be appreciated! TIA-
Laurie
