Too funny Mystie about the guy on the subway. You have your rare breed in NY as they have in LA. You don't get that in the heartland as much. People don't feel the need to preach to others because most people have some sort of belief in God. It isn't questioned as to what that belief is so much in these parts.
An example would be, that guy who got trampled at the Walmart in NY last Christmas. I don't believe that would of happened here because people tryly care about one another. People would of noticed a man down and stopped to help him. I believe that is the difference. When someone is in trouble people step up and help. Although, a couple of weeks ago I had a gal come into the salon asking me for money because she didn't have the gas to get her son to the hospital. I gave her some money and I found out later she went around town collecting money from everyone, even the churches. So, as she took advantage of the kindness in our small town, I believe her actions will come full circle to her that she was dishonest and used her son in such a manner. Although she was very thin and looked like maybe she was on something, but, that only made me feel worse for her poor child who she brought in with him.
Another time, Rachel had my money from the salon and stopped at the store on her way home, dropping all the cash she had in her pocket. Lucily there were a few checks mixed in and it amazed me that the person who found it turned it in to the store. They in turn went out of their way to find me to return it. It was all there. These are the things that give me hope and make me feel that there is a reason they call this the heartland. Heart comes first.
I am not trying to irritate you, just making the point that religion is an important part of this world and I can't even imagine life without it.I give thanks every single day that so many have opened their hearts to it. I hope it is more contagious than to become obsolete. There will always be those who have greed and beat to their own drummer, but, like I said, they have their own cross to bare in life.
There will probably always be those who take it to the extreme and use God's name in Vain, I just feel fortunate it doesn't happen here often. I believe in the power of prayer too. I feel United we Stand, divided we fall. That is why I am very disturbed by Brad's message to he world with his lack of belief. I don't feel he does anything to help this world shouting it from the highest mountain. But with time, I realize, he isn't the man I believed him to be. Not even close. And that is ok, If that is what he chooses to preach, I certainly have the choice to turn a deaf ear to him.
