Gina, i dont think the reason that they ruled out prayer in school and stuff with regards to Christmas is not because it offends people that don't believe but it may offend people that are of different religion other than Christianity. Again, Chtistianity is not the King of Religion, there are also Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, etc etc people out there and why should they all be forced to say Christian prayers in school just because they live in the USA? It's like saying "you live in this country and speak English, therefore you must say a prayer to Jesus in school", are you kidding me?
But I do think not being able to say "Merry Xmas" is pretty ridiculous though, no Jew i know would ever get offended if someone wished them Merry Xmas. Christmas to me is not so much about religion at all as it is about family and childhood tradition. My bf is not religious yet he celebrates Christmas and tons of ppl i know are like that. So that one is a tad over the top but the prayer in school thing, i gotta tell you is spot on, the country would be pretty sad indeed if everyone was forced to pray whether they had the same faith of not.
Also, how exactly is Bill Maher anti-American? Just because he's opinionated and calls them like he sees them? Or because he's anti-religion? We can go around in circles discussing this buddy, but religion has nothing to do with how American one is either. I love this country just as much as the next person, and? Bill Maher is controversial, i will not argue that point, but he's no less pro-American than Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly and those 2 conservative mo-fo's spout the kind of nonsense that makes any level-headed person's hair stand on end. And they do it ALL. THE. TIME. So please, just because Bill Maher is an extreme liberal doesn't mean he's any more anti-American than Limbaugh and O'Reilly who are extreme conservatives.
