check out the link....or read this

Shirley Chow Suet, the winner of this year's Miss Chinese International Pageant, has opted to resume her studies in Canada rather than attempt to develop a career in the entertainment circle. Chow, who does not speak Cantonese very well, will revisit the matter of returning to Hong Kong upon the completion of her university career. Related image (courtesy The Sun):

yea! another smart girl who's into her education...not an entertainment industry career that would be short lived.

[> Subject: You made that up! Shirley went to Hong Kong to learn to speak Chinese better. She dropped out of school. She wasn't even offered a TVB contract. Only Christie Bartram was. So in reality her choice was not smart, but was dumb!! --Go to hong kong to improve chinese?-- so dumb!

I'm so surprised to hear this! It was a smart choice! Hopefully, she'll return to hk once she finishes her degree in a year or two. I think she's very pretty and i was hoping that she would stay in hk.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Hi, I'll defend r9lee here. HK entertainment news is a legit site that painstakingly translates articles from The Sun, SingTao, etc. into English and includes the pictures. I too read this item and while it raised my eyebrows, it did not altogether surprise me because I believe that Christie B. also turned down a TVB contract.

She is choosing a chance at the entertainment field instead of merely finishing her last year of university. To me, that is not so smart.

I know the truth. No one is automatially given a TVB contract when they place in the international pageant. Only Christie was offered a 1-year contract with TVB that she turned down, so that she could go to university instead. Shirley went to HK to try and learn chinese, but couldn't handle living in Hk,so she came back to Vancouver to go to school. She was NEVER offered a contract with TVB!!!
