Assalamu Alaikum,
I have recently been given a cd of Anaasheed and one of them states about Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) as being the son of Adnan where i know he is the son of Abdullah. can anyone shed some light?

The answer to this question was corrected by Shaykh Mustapha Morsy (Abu Attayeb) and here is the correct answer:

For the question about (Adnan), the Prophet( pbuh) was from the tribe of Adnan who were Arabized Arabs Who originated from the progeny of Ishmael. They were called �Adnanian Arabs.

So, when we say that the Prophet (pbuh) is the son of Adnan, it means he is one of the tribe of Adnan, and his grand father is Adnan.
