Assalamu alaykum brothers and sisters,

I am a sunni brother but I have many shi'a friends who have names like "Abdul Redha, Abdul Rasoul, Abdul Hussain..." I know these names are not allowed to be given to a Muslim who believe that only names we can give to ourselves especially with Abd or slave is only to Allah's names or attributes not to persons. My question is... Can I call my friends' names with their chosen shi'a names? and if I called them with their names, am I sinful to whenever I name them even if it accidently?

As Saalamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

The Prophet(saw) has told us to choose our friends wisely for you are whom you associate with.

Also, the Prophet(saw) has instructed us to surround ourselves with those who are pious.

In regards to people having the names of Allah or his attributes, there is nothing wrong with this as long as they use the title of Abdul in front of it.
