As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

If you are asking is it allowed to hold gatherings for the dead and recite Quran for the dead the answer is NO. This is not only Bidah (innovation) but it is SHIRK too.

It is bidah because many people died during the lifetime of the Prophet(saw)including his daughters, yet he never gathered the people together to recite Quran for them...neither did the sahabah do such a thing.

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever invents something in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam) that is not a part of it will have it rejected.” [Bukhari and Muslim]

For those people who tell you that this act is allowed in Islam tell them to show you their proof that the Prophet(saw) or any of his sahabah did such a thing.
