Asalama Aleikum

I read the transcript of a lecture given on riba and mortgages in which the imam stated that it is permissible to charge a non-muslim interest but not a fellow muslim and it is not permissible to accept, pay or be charged interest in any way, shape or form. The imam did not give any hadiths or use the qur'an to back up what he said so if i were to explain to another sister the sin of taking riba i would need some evidence, could you please supply me with the relevant information.

As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Allah says, the interpretation of the meaning:

"...but whoever returns (to Ribaa), such are the dwellers of the Fire � they will abide therein�

[al-Baqarah 2:275]

�And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allaah and His Messenger�

[al-Baqarah 2:279]

WHAT OTHER PROOF DO YOU NEED? NO ONE CAN SUPERCEDED WHAT ALLAH OR HIS PROPHET SAYS. TELL THE PERSON WHO TOLD YOU IT IS ALLOWED TO PRODUCE HIS EVIDENCE FROM QURAN OR SUNNAH. A BELIEVING MUSLIM DOES NOT TAKE THE WORD OF ANYONE OVER ALLAH OR HIS PROPHET (SAW). ALSO A BELIEVER DOES NOT QUESTION ALLAH.. HE ACCEPTS WHAT ALLAH SAYS AND OBEYS HIM EVEN IF HE DOESNT LIKE OR UNDERSTAND WHY.
