Now I know that this might be starting to sound a little like the Spider story with call backs for round two of the action, but I got annother strange phone call....

Again - on a Friday night (well, Saturday morning to be precise)
Again - At a stupidly late hour (or early if you like to look at it that way)
Again - Just as I got into my room...

But this time, getting in with Leah after a night out on the town at 4:00 in the morning while the sky was visibly lightening, the phone that rang when I had just sat down on my bed to start unlacing my boots, was my room phone not my mobile...

Strange, but obviously not the same person - how could I be sure? Well, my room phone is not connected to the outside world so the caller had to be living in the Kaikan, or at least calling from within the kaikan - but the real teller was this:
My strange male assailent spoke very weak English so I responded in Japanese - but he spoke not a word of Japanese, was actually Chinese and wanted me to "lend him my English conversation" (what, he was gonna give it back after?).

"IT'S-FOUR-O-CLOCK-IN-THE-MOR-NING" (I responded in the loud clear voice often assumed by American travellers trying to communicate with people in foreign countries who actually speak no English, but this time due to absolute disbelief and disgust)
"But today is the weekend..."
"But I haven't slept yet!"
"?" (did not understand what I said)
"I need to go to bed!"
"?"
"I need sleep!"
"Oh, do i disturb you?"
"I have to go to sleep now"
"Oh, so sorry"
"0-yasumi-nasai"
"what?" (did not understand my Japanese)
"that's goodnight in Japanese"
"what?" (did not understand my English)
"Oh nothing, goodbye!"
click.

Talk about weird. At least the other guy mighta had a chance at conversing with me in one of the languages I have a grasp of - but this guy seemed to speak neither and still thought it was a 'good idea' to call me up try to chat.

So there you have it - 2 strange calls 2 weeks in a row, same day of the week, same bat time (roughly), but different people ringing me up on different phones wanting to chat to me in different languages.

Is there simply something about be that says 'I want to talk and ridiculous hours of the morning'... I guess we have to wait till next week to find out. (For those of you who know my mobile number here - no pranks please)
