Her hand continued to sting against the bag of ice, but other than that it was ignored as giant sobs started to wreak havoc on her resolve. She cried, cried for the years lost, for the emotions felt, for the loss of him, the return of him, and for all the things she’d need to explain to Desiree when the girl showed up a few months later. Then after she’d cried for all those reasons? She simply cried more.

It took awhile for Angelina to realize he was holding her and crying too. His words were muffled but heard all the same, sniffling heard as resolve was fought for and finally regained. His words reached past the walls, but instead of breaking them down it only built them higher. He had loved her, but did he not anymore? He’d left her, maybe that’s why? He’d stopped loving her…the idea was horrifying and she voiced it without even thinking of the reaction it might cause. ”You don’t love me anymore?” It sounded ridiculous even as it left her mouth, but she’d stated it and was unable to take it back.

So instead she plowed forward, in for an inch in for a foot. ”I waited, I waited forever, you never wrote me. Why didn’t you write? I know things were getting heavy with the federal government but you could talk to me! For gods sake Stan I was your wife! We had a child together, a beautiful little girl.” Her good hand was brought to lips covering them to keep any more sobs from forming. Her eyes were red and bloodshot now and shoulders were trembling from the cold at the lack of his touch, but she couldn’t go back to him now. She’d heard too much. He didn’t care and only his guilt was bringing him back now.

”Sasha and Elden are doing well, though both don’t live here anymore. Tommy left soon after ya’ll did, and Rob he left town a few years back…” There was a pause at Rob, the man had almost replaced Stan at one point, though never to the degree needed…Stan was simply her soul mate and she had never found anyone to replace him, nor had she wanted to. Though she’d be damned before she told him that. ”I don’t need you, I don’t know why you came back, but its okay you can go away again. Desiree and I will be fine without you, we have been for the past ten years.” Her voice shook; it was obvious she was trying to convince herself of the words she spoke, but failing. Utterly failing.
