Most seasons, they can fudge it and say a season=a year of time. The season cliffhangers and resolutions obviously have to happen at the same time. Now "Requiem" thru where we are presently must be much shorter. Don't know when they think conception was but pregnant in "Requiem" atthe end of S7, all of S8 happens in 9 months or a little less and S9 picked up right after the end of S8 so to say "Biogenesis" was 2 years makes sense. Normally I'd say it was 3 years ago by the usual XF timeline since it was end of S6/beginning of S7.

And another thing, not only is Scully not taken in or investigated by the police after the shooting in her apartment but inspite of that news of the shooting reaches Canada. Yet theres not one reporter or newscrew near Scully's aprtment building or police tape around the crime scene. Doggett getting hit by a car brings in a ton of cops and feds. They need to think of these details. They can sidestep them for ep time but at least address it. The old days never had me so nitpicky as the last 2 years do!
