 thank you stranger!!!! i went on the ss uganda for a school cruise when i was 13 ( a long time ago!!!), and we saw the volcano erupting too but i could never remember the name of it until i came across this site and read your blurb!!! thank you for reminding me of the wonder that is Stromboli. i was on the uganda in october 81 and we visited athens, acropolis, parthenon, naples, vesuvius (although it was tipping down with rain and very misty so you could only just see vesuvius), haifa, istanbul, bethelhem, jerusalem, jordan and others i can't remember. 14 day cruise for £350, bargain!!!!! beautiful ship and happy days
