I was on the cruise from Dundee to Travemundie in Germany, Leningrad now St Petersburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen and back to Dundee with St Margarets RC High School.

I was fortunate to be one of a few pupils on the ship who were 18 and therefore was allowed to have drinks on the deck with the captain and teachers, we also accompanied a few teachers to some nice bars in Helsinki and Copenhagen too.

Leningrad was spectacular with posters of Lenin everywhere and we were greeted by the school children of Leningrad at the dock. Seeing the Winter Palace was a memory I will never forget.

Great fun apart from being a prefect on the ship.
