Can I be the first to say that today's game was fantastic! What an improvement on last week. Players were excellent, Thirlby was so much better in his natural position. JMC looked good and Borgen looks absolutely quality!! And the rest of the squad are looking better and better with every minute they play.

It's about time we had some positive posts on this board!

Once again, come matchday, our message board poster can now get to the match (but can't text!), and our update texter can't get to the game, so we need a last minute volunteer for each role. Any offers?

e-mail Dave before 2.00 on info@moseleyrugby.co.uk if you can help

Unfortunately email is a notoriuosly fickle thing and some email systems didn't display it correctly.

Our apologies - We're working on this!

In the meantime you can download the poster from the home page of the club website. Please forward to your business and personal contacts as well as opposition teams in the area!

As is always the case the club is in need of your help. As you'll see from Moseley Matters constant requests go out for volunteers to help on match day and other times during the season. So, get off your hobby horse or soap box if you prefer and make yourself known to anyone called 'Alan' at the club (Potter or Adam) or anyone in a bright yellow jacket and offer your time to the club.

OK!...Guy's, In the spirit of Hollywood, all this "Bring me the Head Smith & Caskie" is, after 9 games unhelpful at best & is actually downright devisive & damaging!!.. So...time for a new thread.
The team will know themselves how they fronted up (or not) against Bees & after this weeks' training, will I would imagine be pretty fired up for 'Titans.'
A thought for all the Knockers!!!... With a good win against 'Titans' & with Welsh probably not relishing a visit to Cov....& with Pirates hosting Bedford....we could be fifth by next week-end.
So quit bashing the Coaches & by association the team & rejoice in the fact that 6 or 7 years ago Mose were pretty much 'belly-up!!'
Go Get em' boyz!!!

Four points and a win for moseley ts week. A very poor performance by our standards it was if we just expected that just turning up would give us a win and five points. In the first half we looked like we were going through the motions.
With a full squad to choose from then there are some very puzzling selctions if you consider, current form , past performances, enthusiasm for the side and commitment.
One in particular that continues to confound me is the continued selection of Bryn Keys!!!! By his own admission he has had a very poor start ( I think he even said embarassing) credit to him for recognising that, BUT he is unable or unwilling to tackle in the centre, I suspect if you reviewed every game he has played in for moseley you will find that when the opposition run at him especially from first phase he just falls off the tackle. It is an obvious key channel for any opposition to attack us becasue of that weakness. It has cost us ground and tries time and time again. THIS MUST be addressed. he plays centre like a matador , waving the opposition through !!!
Secondly, why why why is nathan bressington not a starter every week??? he is aproven finisher who goes looking for work and plays with passion and enthusiasam(spell check). Whereas Rob Thirlby looks uninterested, again is poor in defence ( and the tackle) probably a stone overweight. In summary he does not look like he wants to be here at moseley and to be honest he should not be on the pitch whilst we have btter , fitter and more passionate options.
If we are to address our deffensive frailties then these are to blinding obvious places to start.Stem the tide and take the blinkers off !

Not the best game yesterday but think the change at fly half made a big difference. Not that the starting no 10 had a bad game but when Andrew Borgen came on there just seemed to be more organisation in the back line that was lacking in the first half. Thought he tried to take charge of the game and gave a bit more direction for the guys to play with. Looking forward to seeing if he gets given the no 10 shirt next week to give us a bit more of a look at his undoubted talent!

I do not for one minute think it will have passed anyone by....but our game against Bees is on Halloween! May I humbly suggest that we make that day a nightmare for THEM!!! & not slip on any Ghoulish banana skins. (as posted elsewhere) I'm sure the Coaches & Management will spell (ha!) things out, but as Cap't SlapDash posts..., this is without a doubt a 'must win' game.....We would never, never, never hear the last of it!! I too am glad 'Bees' have made it thus far....but we all know what true 'Integrity' is....& that is the way Mose has performed on & off the field of play for some considerable time. For the result to go against us on Saturday would leave a very deep wound indeed. So!! To Horse, boys....& show those 'Pretenders' what it means & what it takes to not only survive at this level....But to play & win at Twickers, when all had you down for a drubbing!!! To wear the red & black & to carry the torch that was lit in 1873!! DO NOT LET US TAKE A BEATING THIS WEEK-END.....!!! I'm looking for a 5 points win with no reply!!

We have been advised that the RFU Management Committee met this morning and granted the new consortium which is proposing to acquire the assets of Birmingham & Solihull Ltd, the right to take over the old B&SRFC fixtures until November 30th by which time the new consortium would have had to provide the RFU with certain specified assurances in relation to its capability to fulfill BEES fixtures to the end of the season.

Our game against BEES this Saturday at Sharman's Cross Road is therefore ON with a 2pm kick off.

Tense game, some great defending, some decent performances.

To be caught in the first and last minute of the game was a huge disappointment because it was a game that neither team really deserved to win. Still a bonus point is a bonus point and against a big, strong, fit LW side and so close to 4 points as well was a good performance.

Whilst the ref wasn't the worst this season, all the marginal decisions seemed to go with the away side. Incidentally, is my understanding of the offside rule so bad? A LW player knocked on and a Welsh player already ahead of the ball played it. Only a scrum?

This league is very tight and Mose will need to show a bit more in attack to hit the top 8.

Come on Mose!

There has been a debate recently on whether the Bristol coaches should be pitch side urging our team on and shouting instructions. One poster on the Unoffical site, Yorkie Boy enlightens us

Re: Memo to Paul Hull...

..makes me laugh with all the folks on here who say the coaches should be on the touch line but the championship regulations state only the team manager or who is acting as team manager is allowed in the technical area so, before sprouting off, know the rules people.

I responded ...

Yorkie boy,

I take your point, but, alas if we all knew what we were talking about we wouldn't be on these boards, myself included. None the less I thank you for your shining light on the problem. I'm always irritated by football managers such as Fergie and Wenger standing on the touchline, like nerdy trainspotters with their every ranting grimace and spittle flecked raving on show to the viewing public, followed up by their one eyed mind bending distortion of the obvious truth about whether it was a foul or a goal or whether the ref was too fat.

I prefer our rugby coaches to remain in dignified silence with our own very dear to our hearts Mr Brain in his usual position, high up in the "Centenary" stand, hanging upside down as it were, in the belfry with his batman suit on, blood dripping from his fangs, closely accompanied by "Robin" Mr Hull, as they looked on at the truly Halloween Horror Show put on by the lads last Friday night against "Sir Oswald" Moseley RFC.

Watching him closely in his towering erie I realised that, what I thought was blood dripping from his jaws, was in fact splurges of an over generous appication of tomato sauce on his mid game jumbo burger, which came as relief considering recent past events at other equally famous rugby clubs .

Once again I came away with a mild sense of happiness, a win is a win, and I shall refrain from tearing the few remaining threads of hair and shooting myself in the head for the play offs in Spring, as like lemmings, we all once again run head long for the oblivion of promotion and a trip over the side of the cliff.

Next stop Doncaster!

Brave performance, but Bris have too much for us right now. We were unable to get much going in attack and never really threatened their line. Still did very well to keep them to just one try. Commentators suggested that we weren't creating much, though the pens we got were as a result of applying pressure and forcing mistakes. Bristol not nearly as dominant as they would have hoped.

Moseley RFU needs better advertising.
We need to raise the income of the club and the way to do this is to improve the turnout at home games.
The only way to do the this is to raise the Club's profile. We should be increasing our advertising for each home match with the aim to try and land some new (and returning) supporters.
At present there is an offer to NUS card holders to come to October's home matches for free. I live in Selly Park and the only poster I have seen of this is the one my Mrs took out of my front window telling me 'it looks tatty'.
In the past 4 years I have seen only 2 posters to advertise the club. One was an annual fixture list 4 years ago in Tiverton baths and the other was last week in a dingy lobby in a shop in Moseley.
For gods sake we are in the Championship, last year we beat Leeds in the EDF Trophy Final, we are Birmingham's premier Rugby Club and I know of people living on the Alcester Road opposite Wheelers Lane (this is just up the road from the ground in case you didn't know) didn't even know where the ground was, let alone when the next home game was.
All we hear or see of the club is the brief match report on the back pages of some local paper. This is great free advertising but the final words of everyone of these write ups should say "The next home game at Billseley is .....".
We also need to be advertising the next game on lamp posts or a billboard immediately around the ground, to capture the eye of the numerous feckas driving to work every day.
Building the new stands is a great investment for the future of the club but the club really needs to raise it's game off of the pitch if it ever wants to fill this stand and succeed in this new professional era.

Gawd I sound like a right grumpy git don't I

Any chance of the 2009/10 team photo being added to the website like we did a couple of years ago?

It appears the Bristol vs. Coventry match on Friday 30th October will be shown live on Sky Sports - shame they didn't pick a game 2 weeks earlier!

I went to the game last night and the discussion on our mini bus on the way back was suggestions for the boxing day fixture against Cov and what we can do for half time entertainment. I do agree that there should be a special half time fixture to go ahead for this game but it shouldnt just be this one ! I have been to many of the away games and the one thing that we at moseley fall back on is at half time there is nothing going on !! I was thinking about kick the cross bar at half time with a prize ?, music being played before the game, when the lads come running onto the pitch etc ?

I am throwing a suggestion in here to start up a moseley supporters club, where a payment of £5.00 per month is paid into the supporters club by all members and then this money can go towards away coaches (after last nights problem i think this would be a good idea). And the supporters club can then give suggestions to the managers about things that would make moseley stand out ! unforutnately we seem to be stuck in a rut and dont seem to be changing anything, lets give the lads something to be proud of. We need to make moseley a club where people want to go especially with the planning application going in for the new stand etc.

Please can i ask you all to really think about this and if you are interested in joining the supporters club please respond to this message and if we get enough interest maybe we can go ahead with this.

Moseley Oak beat top of the league Veseyans at home, 31-12. Moseley Oak 2nd XV also came away with a good win, unsure of the score though. Well done everyone involved.
