Sone I agree with,others I dont so for what it's worth here are mine. Moseley underperformed this season - massively - again. To answer the sarcastic post about "expecting The Premiership" - no but with the squad we had from the start of the season a finnish from 6th to 8th was a realistic and achievable target. The reason we missed it? I'm not sure for certain but the team looked very very flat on several occasions and the coaching staff didnt seem to be able to lift them or change the focus. Time to refresh the coaching staff? In my opinion, yes. The Stand. I can see the reasoning behind building it and the Exeter model is an excellent one. There is one big difference - Exeter were well supported before they moved to Sandy Park (anyone else remember those trips to the County Ground?) and like it or not Moseley are NOT well supported - all you need to do is ask where all the people who went to Twickenham 3 years ago are now or where they'd been for the previous 10 years! Build the stand but not 5000 seats - maximum 1000 with 10-12 boxes, a good big bar and a good function room or two and spend the rest on improving the paths around the ground, the toilets, the shop and the bl***y car park!!!! The Board. They've kept this club alive in difficult times through sheer hard work and willpower on occasions and for that I applaud them but they are not supermen (it's not a "miracle" as someone said earlier to be able to fund signings half way through the season it's called contingency planning) and I hope they would admit that they need help and ask for it if required - they may be doing this behind the scenes and we don't know about it - and wouldn't turn it down if offered. I'm no expert on these matters but talking to people who've built businesses/clubs up from where we are might not be a bad idea. Giving Mr Rowe at Exeter a ring might ne a good place to start. The Supporters - yes US! We need to do two things. First - help the club in anyway we can be it suggesting corporate leads, volunteering to do gate/car park duty, helping the MSA, bringing friends or even just turning up week after week - it all helps. The second thing we supporters need to do relates to this board. Not everyone in this life holds the same views and we all have the right to express those views however controversial. This board should be a place where ALL Moseley supporters can argue their point about the club, the team, coaches etc whenever they feel so inclined and without sarcastic, personal or "you don't know what you're talkign about" style responses. The board is an open one and several people at a club local to me track it and are amazed at how vitriolic some of the responses to what are perfeclty reasonable and legitimate comments are. Take Bedford, who are perhaps the closest club to us in terms of past and recent history. They have outdone us on the pitch in recent years, but have much bigger crowds than us - about 1,000 more, I believe. I'm guessng tha gnerates at least anoter £200,000 a year. Add that to our players' budget, and I think we, too, would be near guaranteed top eight each year, just as Bedford are. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

One way to improve crowds is to make it easy for people to come to our ground. Getting to Bils is a pain unless you drive then you also have parking problem. So two things, we run a free shuttle mini bus on match days from outside Barclays in Moseley high street and or some other loacl areas such as New Street for travelling fans, Kings Heath Cricket club Harborn High Street etc. the cost of which comes out of the match ticket they buy on the bus. Here the the good catch, who ever comes on the bus then will have to have a few beers after the game before the shuttle bus can get them back. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I'm sure that as a way of reducing traffic and saving the enviroment maybe the council would get behind this sort of plan, maybe a local taxi firm would do deal re transport etc. Also travelling fans could also park at Beckets and probably shop with them etc. I sure a few of the firms in Moseley would help to sponsor a bus service if after the game you were droped off at the Kababish etc. Remenber, who the hell wants to stand on the Yardley Wood Road in the dark on a Saturday night waiting for a public bus in the rain. Once something like this got off the ground I'm sure people would start to use the service in Moseley as a pre night out. By giving business to local companies they hopefully will reciproate and advertise/sponsor us. However - in case any thinks there is a current parking/access problem: We've got an approved transport plan for way above the current attendances. We have very little (in fact probably no) problem with our neighbours regarding parking as everyone can be accomodated in the 'official' car parks. If you recall, our biggest gate since moving to Billesley was the Saints game a few years ago. We were able to park the cars comfortably be using satelite parking areas at the schools around the common. This was 4x (more) than our average gate. Access to Billesley Common by public transport is probably the best for any rugby club in the country - if not any sports club. If you go to 'how to find us' on the website you can see the number of buses that stop within 100 yards or so of the ground. You can also scroll further down that page and put in your home postcode and B13 0PT to get a personalised public transport route by bus and train. Regarding taxis - Ambassador Cars have an advertising hoarding in front of the hospitality boxes and are the preferred cab company for the club. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
