Greater Birmingham squad to face Shropshire

John Corr will switch from club county duty when he takes charge of Greater Birmingham for the opening match of this season's RLF North Midlands Championship against Shropshire at Moseley's Billesley Common ground on Tuesday May 3 (7.30pm).

Corr, the player/coach at Edwardians, already has a Twickenham final to look forward to having led his club into the final of the RFU Junior Vase with a comfortable win at North Shields in yesterday's semi-final.

The former Camp Hill and Birkenhead Park fly-half will now take out from the final preparations to supervise Greater Birmingham's attempt to win the North Midlands Championship,a triangular tournament which also involves defending champions Worcestershire & Herefordshire.

This season's competition has been put back a week with matches now being played seven days later than scheduled because of a fixture backlog caused by the postponement of league matches during the cold snap around Christmas.

Worcestershire & Herefordshire will now begin their title defence against Greater Birmingham at Droitwich on May 10 with the final group match between Shropshire and Worcestershire & Herefordshire at Telford Hornets on May 17.

The final, between the top two teams in the group, will be played at Stourbridge on May 24.
