1st XV: Next home game – Marquee & Big Screen for Ireland v England!
Double header: Moseley v B&S at 3pm..........Ireland v England at 5pm

The next home match is the play off fixture against Birmingham & Solihull on Saturday 19th March (3pm ko at Billesley).

Those that follow England (or Ireland) will have spotted that the match kicks off in Dublin at 5pm – and is very close to St Patricks Day!

So – if you haven’t made your plans about where to watch the international, please consider the ‘double header’ at Billesley! 3pm & 5pm.

To accommodate viewers we are having a large marquee with a big screen especially for the occasion.

There will be a Real Ale bar at one end of this large marquee and in addition, the three other smaller TV screens in the clubhouse will all be showing the match as well.

Food and other refreshments will be available throughout the day and during and after both the Bees game and the Ireland/England match.

Everyone will therefore be able to watch both the Bees game together with the England v Ireland game in the comfort in your own club with the benefit of a range of ales and our award winning catering!

Make you plans to be there now........and bring a friend or two!

Great news. Let's hope the curtain-raiser puts us all in the best possible frame of mind before Ireland do their best to upset the odds...

As this is a showcase match, consideration has been given to playing the match on the 1st XV pitch. However this is strictly subject to the pitch and the weather being suitable to hold the two games one after the other. Alternatively the game would be played on teh Colts own pitch (the All Weather pitch is being used for the mini tournament).

Apologies if it's 'old hat' but nice to hear Phil's cry under Moseley Yodeler (I think). Perhaps a better version could be posted soon?

I haven't been for a while as frankly I`ve been fed up watching the lack of spirit from many Mose players. I watch the juniors regularly and they give their all and at least they attempt the tackle. I think Moseleys mistake is signing players in the twighlight of their careers who just want to cruise into retirement.

I would be more inclined to turn up for the first team games if I knew Smithy had ever been to a Colts game and was remotely interested in the future of Moseley.
The only time I`ve seen him there is for the first team games but not sure where we go from here as if we stay up its going to be the same again next year...

The one thing that is always recorded about the 1st XV, even when suffering heavy losses is that the players never give up and do show a lot of spirit! Also if you'd been bothering to watch you'd have noticed that there were a lot of newer younger players in the squad this season so don't know how you see "signing players comig to the end of their careers". Who are these people? Looks like abother excuse to bash the coaches. Trouble is this time youve not even bothered to check your facts before doing so!

Anyone like to list the current first teamers who came up through the colts? Let's start with Ollie Thomas, Neil Mason, Ben Pons, Jack Pons, Callum MacBurnie, Adam Caves, Mark Evans ... not a bad roll call, I think.

A number of younger players who have recently been signed with an eye to the future including

Ed Styles
Ben Maidment
Joe Munro
Mike Gillick
George Warner
Mike Maltmann
Mike Ellery

For me where we have signed "older" players it has been to bring much needed experience in key places such as the signings of Anthony Carter and Bevon Armitage. And on the whole this season they have worked.

One thing that the club cannot be accused of is not looking to develop youth in the team.

Despite the frustrations of this season that is why I am confident we have the nucleus of a good squad for the future. We just need to get through the next 5 weeks

We are reliably informed:

"The pedestrian gate to the Swanshurst car park is usually closed by one of the club's directors at 7.30 pm. However he does usually check that there are no cars left in there before locking it and if there are, he goes around the clubhouse asking whose cars they are (and apparently accepting "bribes" in the form of beer to delay the closing!). Certainly with the Ireland/England game not scheduled to finish until 7 pm this gate would not be closed before 7.30 so there no part of the International would be missed".

“Full Squad provides choices for Moseley Head Coach”
RFU Championship Play offs:
Saturday 19th March, Moseley v Birmingham & Solihull
3.00pm kick off at Billesley Common

Moseley Head Coach Ian Smith is keeping final team selection under wraps for the Championship play off derby at Billesley Common tomorrow.

The only clues coming from the ground are reports of an excellent series of training sessions during the week - and a full squad to choose from.

Ben Maidment (No 8) and Mark Evans (2nd Row) are fully fit after missing last weekend’s trip to Plymouth and come back in to the reckoning, and Moseley are able to select from options at every position.

The ground and surrounding area has been a hive of activity all week. Moseley are entertaining 150 sponsors and guests, as well as providing two real ale marquees equipped with giant screens for supporters to stay on and watch the Ireland v England game immediately after the Championship fixture.

Before the Championship fixture Moseley’s Under 19 Colts take on Richmond in an Investabroad National Colts Quarter final (12 noon kick off). The club’s coaching staff, proud that six of the current 1st team came through the club’s Colts, will be keeping a keen eye on the next generation to come off the Moseley production line.

Just a hundred yards away on the club’s will be the start of that line on the club’s 3G Rubber Crumb pitch. Moseley’s acclaimed community coaching department will be running run a TAG rugby tournament for local school primary school children starting at 12.30pm - with the finals being held on the 1st team pitch at half time.

6 TV Screens, 8 Real Ales, Award winning catering………………. But just the one winner (or two if spectators stay on for the 6 Nations finale)

Ground entry will be freely available on the gate tomorrow. Entry is £15 for adults, £10 for seniors, £6 for students and just £2 for Under 16s. Once again there will be free entry for serving armed forces.

Parking is free (follow directions on the club website) but public transport is recommended. Billesley Common is served by more buses that anywhere else in Europe!! Use the route finder from ‘How to Find us’ on www.moseleyrugby.co.uk
