Subject: Gloucester/Moseley DR deal to end?

This piece in the Bristol papers is suggesting that the DR deal between us and Gloucester could be comming to an end.

http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/sport/Bristol-Rugby-planning-player-link-Gloucester/article-3368823-detail/article.html

Like others on here I don't understand why we haven't used the DR players more regularly this season, has the quality of those on offer not been good enough? Ryan Mills is going to be Gloucester's 3rd choice 10 next season so he must be good enough, but when have we ever seen him play?

On Sunday Charlie, Jordi and Rupert Harden all started in Gloucester's LV= cup win, Shaun Knight, Yann Thomas and Trinder were on the bench and Jonny May just missed out as 24th man, and have all learnt their trade via Moseley and added a great deal to our team. Gloucester have serious quality in their youngsters comming through why are we not using them like we used too? And now it looks like we're going to loose them!

Does this possible end to the DR agreement signal a change in head coach next season, with Don gone, Smithy is the only one left with a relationship with Gloucester, if he were to leave who would maintain that link?

My understanding from the AGM last year was that we were going to use the DR agreement less and that appears to be the case as we signed younger players for this seson. From memory i think May has only played one game for us this season and Knight has played a few before christmas but not since the new year.

In previous seasons some of the postings on this message board have been critical of our reliance on this arrangement. It appears to be a case of damned if you do/damned if you don't.

The article talks about loan not DR.
DR is the dual reg of England Academy players, from clubs who have England academies to other clubs. The article seems to suggest Bristol still has its own academy (as it would have in Prem days)so would seem a bit strange to DR academy talent from Glous when you have your own Academy players.
Could be different if Bristol has lost England academy status. Anyone know?

Probably more down to the fact we have to pay Gloucester a grand a man for each appearance I was told, but welcome to be corrected.

Bad enough with the "Colts Only" and "why isn't my son playing" brigades joining up with the "X should be in cos he chats to me in the bar" mob. Please don't wake up the anti-DR mob!

Let's ignore these agenda holders and get behind the team that OUR coach picks!

Moseley Moseley Moseley, oi,oi,oi!!!

Damn right Spudo - I really suspect the motives of the haters on here. Especially those that list all our weaker spots for the oppo to read, then whinge even more when they exploit them. You are our man, Smithy

Come on supporters, lets get behind the team, it can't help them if they see all the negatives on this board. The time to put your views are at the AGM and hardly any one turns up.
Come Mose and good luck
