Just to add a few points to this discussion.I'm not convinced the points system is cheaper than fixed week ownership. The figure of 30p per point may be correct but there is also a 127pound per year membership charge.I am a fixed week owner at the Monterey,a 3 bed/3 bathroom penthouse, week 34.Management fees are 508 pounds per week.At my last meeting with the sales reps it is valued at 1750 points according to their brochure. At 30p per point, this equates to 525 pounds plus the 127 pounds annual membership, which gives a grand total of 652 pounds. The quote for me to change over to points, was my week plus 3999 pounds would give me 2001 points,a Gold membership. So,again at 30p per point, the managemnet charge would be 727 pounds. You can't just swap your week for points you have to buy into the system. The next problem is that on the points system you are not guaranteed to get what you want when you want it.I am tied to school holidays etc so a fixed week is ideal for me.On the points system you try and get a vacation where and when you want at peak times,no chance. If your flexible and can take your vacation anytime then maybe the points system could work for you. After watching this site for the last 3 years, this is the first time I've seen anyone in favour of the points system.Over on the CLC members website most people are points owners and the system seems to work for them.Having said that, some of the prices that members have paid for points is absolutely ridiculous, and don't forget, the more points you own,the more management charge you pay.
Happy holidays!!!

Gary, you are right about the potential savings on maintenance fees not being there for Monterey owners to switch to points and that is why I too kept my Monterey week. I traded in our Paradise weeks because there was a substantial saving to be had. The £3999 quoted sounds like the first price we were quoted and laughed at. We accepted to change after a further three reductions in price after haggling and we have ceded our Monterey week with the option of taking it out of the points bank if we want to use it in any year.
