Allan,
we went to the Costa del sol in June 2004,to the CLC flagship resort.Only paid 29 pounds for the accomodation plus flights.Apartment was excellent,a 2 bed/2 bathroom for 3 of us.Part of the deal was to attend a presentation. No problem with that, been there, done that, got the t-shirt.Got picked up from the apartment and taken to Zacary's for lunch with the sales rep.Afterv the complimentary lunch had a tour of the show apartments. Some are fantastic, jaquzzi on the patio, etc.Curiosity killed the cat so couldn't resist wanting to know the financial side of things.Got whisked off to the exhibition centre and then spent 5 hours haggling with the sales reps.First deal was my week plus 3999 pounds to give me 2001 vacation points and a one off extra 500 points to be used within 12 months.Refused their offer and then, not unexpectantly, the price come down to 2999 pounds plus my week.Again I refused their offer.Amazing, isn't it,how the price can change by a 1000 pounds in a matter of minutes.Shortly after I made my excuses and left.
In August 2004 whilst staying at the Monterey, again attended a complimentary lunch supposedly to inform me of the refurbishment programme for the resort. There was not one word mentioned about the refurbishment but only about changing over to the points system.Early on during the lunch I made it clear that we were not interested in their points system because they could not guarantee giving me what I want when I want it.There is the beauty of the fixed week,if your tied with children, school holidays etc then the points system can be difficult.
Just another quick point,we attended a meeting with a sales rep in 2001 where we spent 4 hours discussing whether I should buy into the new phase at the Monterey. He offered me a 2 bed apartment for 8100 pounds. Here we are in 2005 and still the building work isn't complete.Thank god I didn't take up his offer.
Happy holidays.

An iteresting point. Now a bit of history.
This site was set up after a meeting of owners at the Paradise Club, at the time it was owned by The Paradise Group.
The meeting was arranged by owners because the resort was in a dreadful state and going to the dogs.
The hope was that other owners would come across the site either by being told about or by accident.
It was hoped that as it became more popular owners would fill in the membership form and we would be able to build up a data base of owners and talk to each other hence this forum, and maybe speak with one voice, as it is, we have a few hundred owners that have filled in a membership form.

Many owners view the the site, post thier views, but dont bother to fill in a memership form, perhaps it's time to put some restrictions on it??.

Have you filled in a membership form ????
