I sold a dress on ebay and I'm trying to understand the way I got paid, if anyone can explain I'd really appreciate it.

I marked it needed to be paid within 24 hrs of auction ending, well that didn't happen, I'm o.k. with that, we finally did communicate after several days and all is good, I think. I just received the payment, but it says pending ship now. Now, call me crazy but I don't think it's a e-check, the bottom of the paypal states instant. But I don't have access to the funds for up to 21 days. Unless they can prove (ebay) that it's been received. I've never seen this before. Can someone help me understand?

I would check with ebay directly through the website, not through the email link and find out what is going on, Sounds very fishy..do not mail your dress until you have recieved funds!!!!

They are doing it to protect buyers. I had someone on ebay rip me off and when I filed a complaint they couln't retreive the funds. So it helps some people. But it hurts honest sellers!!
